Alpha car hire at Gold Coast Airport

Pros: Fantastic service second time using this company and will definitely use again.

Cons: I was told by Alpha car hire that if i have an accident i will be paying $5000 and my card was used to block $1000 as security deposit when i have taken full protection from discover cars. Whats the point of full protection if you still dont have peace if mind.

Pros: The man who drove the purple shuttle bus was super friendly and entertaining and made everyone feel welcome. The young South American lady was very helpful and represented good customer service

Cons: We had to return the original car after a few hours because the engine light came on, and they asked us to fill the tank. We discovered that the tank had not been filled to the top by the previous renter. So we ended up paying for extra fuel and Alpha argued with us about this which made the experience very unpleasant. Both times we were in the office, there were arguments with other clients and the office staff were overheard calling one of the clients a twat behind their back

Pros: Ripped off by Alpha having to pay 100% more for the hire cost because of 'no insurance' when we HAD INSURANCE!

Cons: NOTHING

Pros: The free upgrade

Cons: I don’t like how they take out $1000 bond when you checkin. The other option was to lower your bond and insurance but cost an extra $42/day. Plus they said they closed at 9pm and we had to find our own way to the depot by uber and when we got there at 8:42pm, they were still there when they could have easily picked us up.

Pros: Good value for money provider may not have known about issue

Pros: Car was rent a bomb quality, and probably worse.

Cons: Car wasn't ready, had a long wait which made us miss another booking, car was rubbish, had warning light pop up all the time and staff were rude - not a good start to our holiday at all.

Pros: Alpha was fast an efficient. I wasn't sure how the offsite airport system would work. It was so seemless.

Cons: The $1000 bond is ridiculous. I have already paid the amount for the hire and agreed to the terms and conditions and got the additional insurance cover. I shouldn't have to layout a $1000. I mean not everyone has that available. I couldn't afford some of my planned holiday events and this wasn't really clear on booking. The windscreen wipers on the car were awful as well. I think perhaps its just that model of car though.

Pros: The service I received when interacting with the people that assisted me was exceptional and the type of car I got was better than what I had booked.

Cons: The baby car seat was a bit old and had no extra padding for my 2year old. Also, the straps had no shoulder padding.

Cons: They were being dodgey when I dropped it off, they all begin speaking Portuguese so that customers don't understand what they are saying, tried to accuse me of a dent that was already there but wasn't so sure when I told them I had proof and tank was full but not to what they liked even though it was the same level as when I picked it up.

Pros: Didn’t have the car I booked, offered me one that was not suitable, but after explaining my situation found me an upgraded car that met my needs

Pros: When we arrived the tyres pressure was low and the screen had a warning light showing this. We had to return to get this fixed - then we discovered the usb port was broken and we could not charge our mobiles for the longer drives preventing us from using our maps.

Cons: We tried to call on the day of return to extend the return time by two hours and could not get through the phone just kept going through the various menus.

Cons: There is a third-party INSURANCE company called a discovercars.com. That is an option to use for the INSURANCE. discovercars.com should not be connected to this company.

Cons: Their lack of: communication (I sent 6 emails and got zero replies) support: my suitcase was left at the depot; they showed zero interest; outdoor lighting at depot (hence my suitcase was left behind-I had anticipated that their staff member who raced ahead of me with the car keys, had loaded it into the car; lack of hygiene (toilet is manky)

Cons: Would not choose again. The sales assistant was extremely unhelpful. Abrupt in his dealings. Also upon request for ANY other car that wasn’t an MG brand car, he was unwilling to even look. I have hired cars from other companies prior - this was a poor experience. Also had to wait almost 40minutes for airport drop off though there was no one else there at 730pm when my flight was at 9:15pm and I arrived there by 7pm.

Pros: Alpha car gave us a very easy and best experience. The process was easy and quick. They also provide pick up and drop offs from airport free of cost. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend them.

Also the Touch screen on car audio system was not workin which was not letting our smat phone connect to car, , We were asked go back and change the car next day we had to Top up the Fuel for that even tough we only use to go to hotel had to come back to return the car. There was not much option to upgrade car either. but finally we were able to change the car and had no issues after that

Pros: Easy rental. Car is in pristine condition. We hired a Hyundai i30 but for the love of me, couldn’t figure out Maps on the nav system. We had to use carplay or android so we can use Maps which Takes up battery on mobile when we’re out and about. Otherwise no issues with the car and Alpha.

The woman from Alpha I spoke to initially listened, but she appeared to grow frustrated with my insistence that the charge of $59.08 from Discover Cars was opaque and excessive. I told her that the charge reflected poorly on Alpha because there is a nexus between Alpha and Discover Cars. She did not appear persuaded by my argument.
