Cons: The car supposed to have smart phone integration and I use it as a navigation with Google map . However, the function sudden disconnected with my phone during the middle of my trip. I was lost in the middle of nowhere while I on my way for my international flight. I trying two different cables and still not working. It’s very dangerous that the navigation disappeared suddenly, I ended up missing the exit and have to waste more time to return to my route. This caused me extra 30 minutes and oil.

Pros: Phoebe McCabe was very helpful and efficient when returning the vehicle.

Cons: The battery in the key was low and hence had to find a replacement in a remote part of Scotland in order to replace it myself. A little disappointing for an expensive rental.

Cons: Changed my rental rate and, as I´ve never experienced that, now I find NOBODY to talk to and fix this. They keep sending me vague and generic emails like I am not understanding something, when, CLEARLY, it was eighther or, a mistake or plain dishonesty. Still hope someone fixes that and talk to me. Been renting with Alamo for almost 20 years and that was a shame.

Cons: Contacting the alamo offices was a bit tricky. Whenever we called we were routed to the headoffice and whenever they connected us to the office, no one picked up. This happened both at the glasgow and edinburgh offices. Shame because the service at the desk was impeccable.

Pros: They assisted me in an upgrade.

Cons: Pressured to take on additional insurance even though I had already paid for some initially. I was also advised the initial $100 Australian dollars I paid as a deposit was not even involved in the deal and that it was just a booking fee. Will never go through this company again when renting a car.

Driver requirements
Minimum rental age is 25 years.
A Young driver fee is not applied.

There is no maximum age.
A Senior driver fee is not applied.

The driver license must have been issued by authorized authorities at least 1 year(s) before the date of the commencement of the rental.

In addition to the regular driver license, an International Driving Permit is also mandatory if the driver license is written in a language other than that of the renting country and/or in characters that cannot be read in the renting country.
A driver license printed using a non-Roman alphabet (Arabic, Japanese, Cyrillic, etc) must be supplemented by an International Driving Permit.

Please note that the International Driving Permit is valid only if it is accompanied by a regular driver's license, is issued by an official authority or government-authorized organization, and is in physical (not digital) form.
The International Driving permit must be a physical one; a digital version will not be accepted.
Only physical driver's licenses are accepted (not digital versions).
For driver licenses from countries not party to the International Driving Permit treaty, an official translation of the license must be presented with the original license. In order to pick up the car, domestic renters must present the following documents: valid driver license, credit card on a main drivers name, Passport or ID card, booking voucher.

Deposit and deductible policy

Available special equipment: GPS Navigation system, Baby seat (up to 1 year of age), Child seat (2-4 years of age), Booster seat (4-10 years of age).

Delivery/Collection service is available only by previous request.
Delivery/Collection service is available within city limits. Additional charges will be applied, depending on the distance.
Fuel policy
The vehicle is provided with a certain amount of fuel and must be returned with the same amount in order to avoid additional charges.
Additional information
In case of renting at the airport location, the customer must provide a valid flight number in order to make a reservation.

Winter tires are recommended during the winter season but are not mandatory.
Snow chains are allowed in icy/snowy conditions.
Rental period
The maximum rental period per agreement is 28 days.
If the renter would like to extend the rental period, renter should return to the car hire office at the end of the rental period to sign a new agreement.
Business hours
The grace period will be honored only during business hours.
The supplier will hold the vehicle for 29 minutes after your scheduled pick-up time as long as it is within their normal business hours. After this time, your booking may be canceled without refund.
If the customer is late for a return for more than 29 minutes, extra day charges will apply, in addition to any other rental charges.
