Alamo at Munich Airport

Pros: Once I made it to the collection counter the process was smooth and efficient. Drop off is always amazing at Munich airport, very good solution!!

Cons: Collection was slow, because cars hadn’t been cleaned and were not ready. Winter weather to be expected but more prep needed. Vehicle hired was not serviced correctly, had to take matters into my own hands despite calling the Munich office 3 times with no response. Have been offered a measly €89 for the inconvenience caused and €35 was out of my own pocket to put severely low oil levels into a state of acceptable. Just a good job I care about cars because the Munich team couldn’t care less.

Pros: The pick-up process was very fast. I also liked the fact that the agent (Leo) has given me unlimited mileage instead of limited mileage as stated initially in the offer.

Pros: Alamo gave me a perfect car but what was even more impresive was the friendliness of the agent in Athens (Leo). Will definitely choose Alamo again!

Cons: Just a minor note; the front desk man kept checking the price of rental, he asked how did i get this rate? It's very low, i told him I've made an early booking, but still not convinced. And asked what was your agent when you booked this car? I think they shouldn't ask and compare rental rate that has been made early with current rate, i was holding a booking confirmation , he kept punching in the calculator for sometime.

Cons: I have normally not been charged for going to Austria even though I have told the agent that I was going there, but this time I was charged the border fee.

Cons: when renting I was asking for a 4wd car, Nissan Qashqai. Arriving at Alamo I was told a 4wd in that category could not be provided, however, if I paid daily 20Euro more, I would get a 4wd car. Finally I got a Volvo XC40 B4, unfortunately and as I found out later, this car was not equipped with 4wd. I got stuck in the Austrian Alps in snow and could not utilize the car for 4 days. I had to organize towing service dragging the car out of the misery.

Pros: Alamo/Enterprise were great. The staff member (Leo) at Munich airport was super friendly and helpful when we picked the car up. We drove into Italy and the car broke down in Venice. After 2 days on the phone, Munich sent a staff member (Andy) who drove a replacement car 800km to us in Venice. We can’t thank Andy and his manager enough for doing this, otherwise our planned holiday would have been ruined.

Cons: Dealing with the broken down car was stressful - I was using an Australian mobile phone but couldn’t call the European breakdown number. I called Alamo in Italy and Germany and nieither office seemed to be able to communicate across borders

Cons: There is only one problem, the return of the car in Berlin was inconvenient and unclear, we arrived at a check near the place and there is no clear sign that you can see it and how to reach the parking lot.

Cons: I had a serious citation with the car and I want to make the corresponding claim. I was driving on the road near Freiburg and the red oil lamp was lit. I made a stop at an Ibis Friburg hotel to protect the car. And I asked for help. The mechanic came and said the car couldn't move and he would have it towed. But he didn't give me a mobility solution. I kept calling but no one answered. It was already 8 pm and I had to stay in this hotel until the next day without knowing how to get another car.

Pros: When we returned the car the attendant helped unload luggage. And even went and got us a trolley at his cost as we didn’t have change. Received receipt with no extra charges within the hour or drop off.

Cons: I had to pay a higher deposit than indicated at the time of online rental. The Alamo representative told me that this is done because I don't take out any insurance with them. When asked about insurances in general, while he should know that I'm partly covered with any rental agreement (in this case via DiscoverCars) he gave me the 'usual' scare story of being basically uncovered. The rental paperwork came only hours later via email, which meant I wasn't able to read the small print.

Pros: The woman on the helpdesk, whose name I unfortunately cannot remember, was fantastic, very helpful on a short notice booking when I was disorganised!

Cons: The car drop off procedure wasn't particularly clear, although I'm not sure this was Alamo's fault, just the way it's done at Munich Airport

Pros: We were served by David at Munich Airport. He was very friendly and professional. The car we got was spacious and comfortable.

Cons: There was no parking disc in the car which lead to us having to pay for parking several times when free spots would have been available. The car front grill had not been cleaned properly (there were lots of dead insects). Returning the car at Tegel Airport was less of a smooth experience, but this has more to do with the awful airport rather the car rental company.

Cons: Alamo person at the Munich airport desk was not so friendly and professional like his colleague at the Vienna airport. He said that Alamo / Enterpise do not accept the FULL coverage I ordered with the car (over DiscoveryCarHire agency) :-( I got downgraded car in relation to the one I preordered :-( Most probably I will never use Alamo / Enterprise in Munich airport as a car rental company any more.

The help line that you specify on the form that we get when taking the car have a number on it, while calling to this phone number the voice answering the call is in German and i dont understand anything...so its a major problem! when you most need the help - you dont get it!

Cons: A litte chatotiic and unclear delivery procedure. No check/inspection of vehicle before return. It would be difficult to say anything should a damage be discovered after return. Renter must then photograph car before return to prove undamaged car. Company must prove that damage occured durin rental and not happened after return.
