Just after the cyclone so was bits of damage visible. Had a mountain hike which was very arduous and harder than expected but very educational and informative. Driving was easy but roads were poor at best so experienced drivers suggested.

Used the car to travel from Nadi up to Lautoka, around Nadi for shopping, to Denerau twice for pool days at Wyndham Resort and transfer to Timeshare. Also able to get the car collected from there instead of having to take back to airport. It was cheap to trip around nearly every day for a week (only $55 FJD) and it was all we needed.

The roads in Fiji is dusty, full of potholes, dogs and stone, road sign not clear, no lines marked and no lights at night, so driving is a problem after 6pm. Other than the Denauru resort area, the rest of Fiji were not maintained, very run down as people were too laid back and is far from advertised, overrated beauty. The pictures of hotels outside Denauru were very different to what you actually get, it’s like maybe picture were taken 20 years ago but place were not maintained after that.

Because of the car we were able to go on activities that didn’t have pick up options. We went on zip line activities and then island visits as well. Was much cheaper driving ourselves to the port and paying for parking rather than paying for taxi’s. We were also able to take ourselves to our accommodations and just made our holiday that much easier.
