Car Hire at Liverpool Airport

Airport travel guide

A historic port city, Liverpool has become one of the favourite weekend getaways in the United Kingdom. Not forgetting its maritime and working-class roots, but at the same time filled with youthful energy, culture, and entertainment, it has something for every traveller. These are three of the most famous destinations in and around Liverpool:

• Pier Head. The Liverpool port is probably the most famous area of the city and figures highly on most to-see lists. Part of the Liverpool Maritime Mercantile City, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Pier Head is home to such famous landmarks as the Museum of Liverpool, Royal Liver Building, and the Open Eye Gallery.
• Albert Dock. Another important part of the city, the old docks and warehouses of Liverpool have now been turned into restaurants, bars, and galleries. Attractions like The Beatles Museum (dedicated to the four most famous sons of the city), Merseyside Maritime Museum, and Tate Liverpool are also here. The area was granted a special charter in 2018 and is now known officially as the Royal Albert Dock.
• Snowdonia National Park. Just a little more than a stone’s throw away from its old rival, Manchester, and near other large cities like Sheffield and Leeds, Liverpool is situated in one of the most industrialized, densely populated areas of England. But drive west instead of east, and you’ll soon reach the border of Wales, and, soon after, a vast expanse of nearly untouched nature. Made up of magnificent peaks, rolling green hills, highland lakes and protected wildlife, Snowdonia is one of the most beautiful nature preserves in the United Kingdom. Located just a 90-minute drive from Liverpool, it can be visited on a day trip.
