Goldcar at Malaga Airport

Pros: Good car and good price

Cons: The location to pick up the car after checking in at the Goldcar desk in the airport terminal is very hard to find. It took us 30 mins just to find the car as it was on a level of the car park which only some lifts went to and at the very far end of the car park. The agent at the desk did not provide correct directions.

Pros: No hard sell. Factual upon pickup, friendly service.

Cons: Over 1 hour wait time to collect car.

Pros: Absolutely nothing

Pros: A ticket system is in place so they see people in turn.

Cons: Despite the ticket system we waited around 40 minutes to be seen. The didn't have the automatic car we had booked & were offered lots of poor choice Manual G.box cars instead. We only drive automatics and had to wait another two hours for an automatic to become available. Despite the long wait they even charged us an additional €40 euros to return the car two hours later than our scheduled time on our booking. The paperwork showed roughly 20 X marks to denote scratches.

Cons: Car was advertised on Discovercars as £180 the extra costs and fees from goldcar made it cost over £500. Waited to be given the car at Málaga airport for an hour and a half. After waiting an hour and a half to be served I was told the car I reserved was not available so I was given a different smaller car for the same price without a discount. It would have been more sensible to get a less budget car rental that didn't have hidden costs at every opportunity.

Cons: The 90 minute wait to collect keys.

Cons: Wasn't allowed to pay the balance with my Revolut and the deposit by credit card. Both had to be with a debit card. Presigned re condition of the car. Asked for full price and only when I queried that I had prepared the insurance was it reduced. Car fine just left me feeling uncertain about when other hidden extras were going to be charged even now.

Pros: Overcharged which was not mentioned until I looked more at paperwork

Cons: Cunning trying to charge me more. Poor service when I called to discuss.

Cons: Very hard sell for goldcar full insurance. We purchased DiscoverCars full insurance in advance but told at the desk that this was worthless and that if the car was hit we would be liable for the full value of the car, not just the deposit. Bad attitude from the representative when we declined the company’s insurance and left the desk with doubt on our DiscoverCars full insurance and an upsetting start to our holiday.

Pros: Cheap as chips (out of season) and in the terminal

Cons: Disabled travellers needed the car we ordered for large wheelchair. As usual for many companies they tried to give us a smaller car, had to pay more than our rental cost for the week for an upgrade to something suitable

Cons: The back seat wasn’t clicked in properly. It took us ages to find the vehicle. It was a relatively new SUV, with no sat nav or parking sensors. The parcel shelf wasn’t fitted, it was left loose in the boot. Signage on the return drop off could be better. The parking spaces were THAT tight I was literally CM’s from a concrete post and the car parked the other side. It wasn’t clear what we had to do on drop off. I had to ask in the office. I didn’t know we’d have to wait whilst the car was

Pros: They were very clear with their decision instructions. The car was relatively easy to find and matched the information provided from the agent.

Cons: The car wasn’t the car I had booked and because I was as driving in a hilly location I would have much preferred an automatic and I’m sure most likely paid a premium for this too.

This was a cost of about £180 - they simply mentioned this cover, and did NOT ask the question to me. - I have degree level Spanish and we conducted the conversation in English - yet they are a disgrace to add this without asking seeking consent - the car we were given was very high milage, possibly ex another car rental firm - it had a lot of damage and bumps and bruises. - there was no screen wash! Just tap water. Very poor.

Cons: All the above. Also the car was almost dead. The engine was very poor / weak. It also has space for one suitcase only in the boot. As a family of three it was barely able to serve its purpose

Cons: Grumpy advisor who was determined to upsell insurance. Will never use Goldcar again. No clear instructions about reviewing damage to the car before departure. No chance to discuss state of the car before leaving. Damage not witnessed by us or member of staff.On return no witnessed review of any new damage to the car. Impossible to agree any new damage.

Cons: I can say at the moment.. as I am waiting for the fuel refund They asked for a deposit for the fuel and if i return the car with full tank they will refund the deposit ( I’ve read on their reviews they don’t give the deposit back ) so I am waiting for the deposit for the fuel

Pros: The car was fine. I had a flat tire, reported it to the company, instead of sending a new tire, they sent a recovery truck without one. They took the car away and I went back to Malaga and was given a replacement, which was fine. Be healthy was handled well, except that they could have saved themselves a lot of expense and I could have saved half a day of messing about provided a spare or delivered replacement The other issue is that they have already had refunded my fuel deposit – I hope this

Cons: We never saw the Yaris we were expecting as the bizzare rule that you had to arrive on the same day as you collected car and prove it with your boarding card, we had already been in Spain for 3 weeks and only needed a car for the final week. When this was noticed they couldn't explain why it was a condition of hire but if we coughed up another 140 euros we could have the car. We declined and their rep contacted Discovery cars who arranged another car with Goldcar which was only 9 Euros Extra.

Cons: The price I paid for the rental was not the same as I agreed with Discover Cars. You quoted 113.17 euros and estimated 96.69 GBP. Instead I ended up paying 147.04 GBP. The difference arose mostly from the exchange rates Goldcar applied to the initial payment (1.01 euros to 1 GBP) and the refund of the fuel deposit (1.17). I was not given the option of paying in euros at the rate determined by my bank on pick up of the car. This is underhand practice and I will not use Goldcar in future.

I also received an email stating I had been in an accident and needed to complete a form within 48 hour when this was clearly not the case. Nothing was recorded in internal damage and they charged me for an item inside that looked like it had been damaged years before, and also charged me for fuel when I dropped it off filled.
