George Airport (GRJ), also known as George-lughawe, is a regional airport located in the Western Cape Province of South Africa. The airport is situated approximately 7.5 km outside of the city of George, and it serves as a gateway to the Garden Route, which is a popular tourist destination in the country. 

• Outeniqua Mountains. Many lovely nature areas are located just a short drive from George – more on them below – but it is also possible to enjoy the outdoors without leaving the city boundaries. As George is located on a plateau between the coast and the Outeniqua range, it is very easy to drive north and enjoy the stunning views of the city and the sea below, making this one of the most popular activities for visitors.
• Garden Route: The Garden Route is a 300-kilometer scenic drive along the southwestern coast of South Africa that is known for its natural beauty and diverse attractions. It extends from Mossel Bay in the Western Cape Province to Storms River in the Eastern Cape Province and includes popular destinations like Wilderness National Park, Tsitsikamma National Park,  Knysna Heads, as well as stunning beaches of Plettenberg Bay and Mossel Bay, several wine estates, and plenty of adventure activities, including bungee jumping, zip-lining, and white water rafting.
• Oudtshoorn: Oudtshoorn is a town located in the Klein Karoo region of the Western Cape Province, about 1 hour drive from George Airport.  It is known as the "ostrich capital of the world" because it is home to many ostrich farms and is a major center for ostrich breeding and feather production. It is also home to Cango Caves, some wineries and a popular sunrise meercat experience. 
• Gondwana Private Game Reserve: Gondwana Private Game Reserve is a luxury game reserve located in the Western Cape Province, abotu 45 min drive from George Airport. It covers an area of about 11,000 hectares and is home to a wide variety of wildlife, including elephants, lions, rhinos, zebras, and many species of antelope and birdlife. This is one of the best wildlife game reserves in Western Cape and a great place for a safari in South Africa. There are several luxury lodges within the  Game reserve that offer comfortable accommodations, gourmet dining, and a range of amenities, including swimming pools and spa facilities. Game drives are included in all stays.

Location

George Airport is about 8 km (5 mi) west of the city of George. Motorway R102 and York Street are the main roads connecting the airport to the city.

Although the airport is small, you’ll find a coffee shop, two restaurants, shops, ATMs, a currency exchange in the arrivals hall, a first aid clinic, baby changing facilities, an observation deck, and a prayer room. George Airport facilities are mostly equipped for travelers with reduced mobility, and special assistance can be requested when booking your flight.

Caltex gas station at 2 Discovery Street can be reached in about eight minutes. There are other gas stations near George Airport and on the way to the city.
