SafeDrive Car Rentals at Hobart Airport

Pros: Easy team members to deal with and the car was ready and waiting for us when we got to the depot. Very easy drop off for the car return.

Cons: Difficult to find the pick up point at the airport.

Pros: Cost effective and clean car. Pick up and drop off was overall convenient for me.

Pros: Got a terriblly weak MG ZS instead of MG HS that we were hoping for, the power is not enough for hilly roads like Hobart, abandoned our plan to go Mt Wellington as I had no confident getting it up any more steeper,hilly roads as it would be too much of a drag even driving around Hobart city areas.

Cons: The agents we met were really nice,helpful & friendly,car deposit was refunded without a fuss which is a plus too. . Agents at contact point were nice,will come back but hopefully next time we would get the car that we specifically wanted to hire.

Cons: I paid extra insurance with discover cars meaning I would have no excess in the event of an accident, however we were informed that it made no difference and we would still be liable, making the extra money pointless. I feel robbed.

Pros: The car was fine, drove well, did the job. The price was significantly cheaper. There is a drop off at the airport option for out of hours flights at an extra cost.

Cons: The “stress free shuttle service” was the worst experience of customer service I’ve had. Waited an hour expecting to be picked up, he got there said there wasn’t enough seats to take my party and he’d have to come back. We decided to get a taxi and it’s in an industrial estate with no way onto a locked gate. Phoned the call centre countless times to get the same message “we’re passing on your message”. Took three hours to get the car and would have been double that if we waited to be collected.

Cons: The starter key battery was at low level when I hired the car. When later experienced difficulty starting the car I was advised to myself buy and fit a new battery. On 10 September I had a partially flat tyre. Took the car to Launceston Mitsubishi who fitted the emergency spare. They also sold me and fitted a new key battery. Called Safe for advice about repair or replacement of tyre. It took 2 hours for a call back and no offer of help. I paid for repair and battery. No refund.

Pros: Well maintained car. Staff were very helpful when I made a mistake with my booking.

Pros: very close to airport so it was fairly easy to do the pickup and drop off, friendly staff and easy to contact.

Cons: i called in advance to inquire about pick up and reminded them about the car seats but only 1 was set up so we had to wait for the other one to be vacuumed and set up so there went our dinner plans that night. Also, they did not clean the very dirty windscreen before giving it to us.

Cons: Car rental experience was disappointing. The company couldn’t find our confirmed booking, leaving us waiting over an hour with no explanation. When the car finally arrived, the driver left before ensuring we could exit properly. The car was dirty, with no cleaning wipes, and no alternative vehicle was offered. The sound system didn’t work, and the fuel tank wasn’t full. On drop off, no staff was at the location and so we had to call the national number as we were close to missing our flight.

Cons: Waited for 55min for pick up, despite 3 phone calls

Pros: I made the booking in January and 3 days before booking in April got a call you don’t have booking or turned out they had some issue there as well. Pick up and drop off was not properly organised. If you tried to reach numbers it took us 30 min to reach someone’s. at the drop off there wasn’t any workers around 7:30am at the office if it even shows they are open from 6:00 am. Not well organised lot of improvements need to be done.

Cons: Be sure to explain fuel policies up front! I filled up on a whim but not everyone will do that and they certainly wouldn't like being surprised by any refueling fees. I also highly recommend instituting the ability to primarily communicate via email or WhatsApp as many international travelers will have trouble with phone only communications.

Cons: We had 5 people in our party at the airport and the car we were being picked up in only allowed for 5 so my husband had to go with the employee to the depot do all the paperwork and then drive back to collect us. A van to fit all people would be ideal. Same for drop off we didn't want to be ferried in two car trips so my husband dropped us at the airport prior to returning the car just in case there wasn't a van to get us all back to the airport.
