Pros: Quick and easy to pick up car and the price

Cons: Drop off instructions could be clearer. It also takes ages to complete paperwork on collection (all companies not just goldstar). Surely in this day and age a lot could be pre completed and automated? I was lucky in that I was the only one there on collection, but when we dropped it off, the queue was at least 45 mins.And stop trying to upsell insurance.

The car needed a new battery but the engineer couldn’t fit one without goldcar permission and he couldn’t get authority on the phone despite

Cons: The car wasn’t onsite. I had to wait whilst it came from another storage location. It was an SUV. I had booked a small car because of driving and parking in a city. Eventually they gave me the keys to a fiat 500 which was in the car park. Why they didn’t give this car in the first place is a mystery. The pick-up took 30mins. Not good enough.

Cons: I had understood the desk was in the airport itself, and not outside in the carpark, so I had initial difficulty finding the rentals desk

Cons: Car was a couple of years old. Although, there were many brand new cars in the parking.

Pros: It was quiet so collecting and dropping off the car was a quick process.

Cons: Pressure sales techniques including multiple questions to buy additional insurance cover and questions such as ‘are you sure’ and ‘where you are staying is very busy and chances of scratches are high’ in order to scare us. We did not purchase the additional insurance for €170 but did have to put down an extremely large holding deposit which was not mentioned prior to travelling. Car was not as selected and no formal handover or check to the car with existing damages. We did this ourselves.

Cons: They offered to change the car to diesel but forgot to mention that they will charge more. They insisted to sell me the full coverage for a lot of money. The car after 100kms needed adblue an additive for the diesel. I spent more than two hours on phone trying to find somebody from goldcar or DC without success. I ended up to goldcar in nice to add the adblue. Finally they overcharged me with 72 euros for unnecessary "special" cleaning. Luckily dc refunded that.

Pros: Smooth rental, Straight forward and easy. Good car. Quick return.

Cons: The car had electrical issues that manifested 3 hours from departure - the hybrid system was not working and every time I had to stop and start the engine. This happened 5-10 times per day in traffic.

Pros: The agents at Marseille were really helpful, tolerated my bad French, and didn’t over-aggressively try to upsell me the insurance

Cons: They said the car had a gps but it didn’t work. They took a lot of money from my account and will return it only 17 days after I return the car.

I arrived 7hrs late on the same day -I queued 1hr with my elderly mother (no chairs) and the staff took ages to check people in (approx 17 mins per person) -When I finally got to the desk I was told that my booking had been cancelled and they wanted 1000 EUR for 3 days car hire -They left my elderly mother and I stranded late at night with no way of getting to our accommodation - will never use Goldcar again

I then.m get a fraud alert from my bank saying gold car are trying to take money from me , they have now and are not responding to my emails .

Cons: Because I booked through your company, I was advised that there was absolutely no insurance or cover provided and I had to pay an extra £200 for insurance. I will not use Discover Cars or Goldcar again.

This was never explained online when I paid the extra insurance for full coverage.

Cons: I was not the only one to be trying to pick up a car at an 'agreed' & confirmed rate that was not real. The Goldcar staff insisted on a much higher price and my having to return the car two hours earlier and clean it on the day, as well as the much higher excess. Each time I agreed to one of their demands, they would make up another one. As I was rushing for a hospital appointment and would be coming from visiting my father in hospital on the drop off day, I effectively had to agree to pay.

Cons: There was no mentioning about the "optional" insurance on the page. We went to the car rental company with the expectation to get a car for 20 euros a day because this is the price indicated during the booking having already prepaid 70 euros. At the counter they then made it appear as a matter of fact that we need to pay 200 euros for an extra insurance. Be aware of such nasty behavior. Get an external assurance in advance which is much cheaper and categorically reject these "offers".
