Dirent a car Greece at Preveza Airport

Pros: Polite, friendly service. Value for money.

Cons: Not the easiest to find and even airport workers couldn't tell us exactly where it was. Fuel tank was half-full which is always awkward to take back the same. Assuming previous hirer left it half-full, the hire company should charge them and fill it right up (fuel station 25m away!). Also the windscreen washer fluid tank was empty - this should be checked for every hire return.

Cons: A little hard to find shop. An old paint damage was tried put on me, but with photo documentation this was easily settled.

Pros: The staff at Direct were very helpful. Our flight with TUI (who are rubbish by the way) was delayed over 24 hours and we were in contact with the company many times. They stayed open late to accommodate us. When we got there the whole service was quick and easy.

Cons: The location of the rent.comp. isnt a problem..: its cca 300m from the airp., luggage carts are available. Unfortunately, the logo of the rent.c. isnt visible from the airp., but it would be enough to write that the r.c. is right next to the Shell gas station. The car was clean: the exterior and the interior too, but after the previous use, maps were left on the seats. Solved with a towel. The r.comp. is the cheapest in the whole area and if this was a tax for it, I didnt mind undergoing it..

Cons: Hard to find, we were chased up because we were running 15 minutes late, due to passport control queue. The car’s tyre pressure warning light came on after we collected the car. All 4 tyre pressures were extremely low, and clearly were not checked regularly by the car hire company.

Cons: The instructions on where to go to pick up the car were not good as the car rental companies were mainly opposite the airport so we spent ages walking up and down that street in the dark trying to find them, until the rental company called and told us to leave the airport and cross the road, where we would find them behind the Esso garage.

Cons: I booked and paid for a Skoda Octavia. I got a small old Peugeot 307. The car had a very small engine, the times was almost done. So when we drove uphill it had big problems.

Cons: The only issue I had was that the car did not have a remote key fob.

Pros: The value for money was good as it was the most reasonable price we could find. One member of staff was particular helpful and concerned about the problems we had.

Cons: The boot broke within the first hour which made the use of the car a bit of a pain as we were moving around a lot. The battery died and it was a hassle getting it fixed and they didn’t seem to be very proactive in helping or getting it fixed. We wasted half a day getting it sorted and had to pay for a local mechanic to come look at it. And we were not reimbursed.

Cons: There was some damage which neither of us noticed when I picked up the car as it was night and dark. It could have been me, could have not - it happens. But the paperwork to sort was slow. Good news is that I bought full coverage with Discover Car and it paid in full - fast and flawless!

Cons: Car was supplied with a warning light on that said it had a flat tyre. The car had a lane departure system that shook the steering wheel, I should have been told about this feature.

Cons: They charged me for a tiny scratch that they said I did but you would have to be very very good at inspecting a rental car when you collect it to see such a scratch. These guys are total sharks would not go near them and will also post such a message on social media so other people don’t get ripped off.

Cons: The directions to the office are not clear enough, as we booked via Discover Cars we where looking and asking for them, but the office is sign posted Dirent and if we had been told the office was next to the Shell Gas Station to the right of the Airport Exit we would have found it much quicker than we did.

Cons: Our flight was delayed and the desk was closed when we landed (other hire cars had left their desks open). We ended up sleeping outside the airport and asked if they could open early in the morning which they said they’d try. The website said the desk opened at 8.00 and we hoped for something before then. At 8.15 the desk was still closed and eventually I got to the desk to collect the car around 8.45. No apology - just a threat that they don’t have to rent the car.
