Cons: I called the alamo agency immediately after having the reservation and asked if I can be sure that we will get vehicles with winter tires and they said on the phone that all the vehicles at this season have winter tires and there is no reason to worry. when I came for pickup, I was very disappointed and upset to realize that this is not the situation, and I was asked to double the rental cost to have a vehicle with winter tires !

Quick check in,and no time wasted.They gave me a brand new SUV hybrid which was so comfortable.As there was unlimited mileage ,I was able to travel to a few cities around Lyon.Highly recommend them.Will definitely use again.They had the best price deal in comparison to the other car companies.

Pros: Relatively efficient

Cons: Absolute rip off. Car rental was 348 total for 7 days and I was charged additional 700 for “obligatory” winter tyres and insurance. I did chose the extra insurance but winter tires should be standard (as anywhere in Europe). It’s outrageous to charge someone 30 per day for winter tires. I would not rent from Alamo again.

Cons: As above, thought I was booking a 4WD at significant additional cost but apparently did not. Also paid for snow chains when I did not need these as the car had winter tyres. There was no way to check this on booking.

Driver requirements
Minimum rental age is 18 years.
A young driver fee applies to drivers under the age of 25.

There is no maximum age.
A Senior driver fee is not applied.

The driver license must have been issued by authorized authorities at least 1 year(s) before the date of the commencement of the rental.

The driver license must be written in Latin alphabet.
A driver license printed using a non-Roman alphabet (Arabic, Japanese, Cyrillic, etc) must be supplemented by an International Driving Permit.
Please note that the International Driving Permit is valid only if it is accompanied by a regular driver's license, is issued by an official authority or government-authorized organization, and is in physical (not digital) form.

In order to pick up the car, the following documents are required: valid driver license, Passport or ID card, booking voucher, train ticket.
In order to pick up the car the customer must present inbound and outbound flight tickets in their name matching the rental period; otherwise, they will be denied service.
In order to pick up the car, domestic renters must present the following documents: proof of home address (e.g. Utility bill).
Optional extras and services
Available special equipment: GPS Navigation system, Baby seat (up to 1 year of age), Child seat (2-4 years of age), Booster seat (4-10 years of age).

Fuel policy
The vehicle is provided with a certain amount of fuel and must be returned with the same amount in order to avoid additional charges.
If the car is returned with a lesser amount of fuel, a refueling charge of 20 EUR will be applied + the cost of the missing fuel.
Diesel vehicles are available for an additional charge.
Diesel vehicles are available only by request upon arrival.
Additional information
By law, winter tires are mandatory on all roads from 01.11 to 31.03 in the following regions: Ain, Allier, Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, Hautes-Alpes, Alpes-Maritimes, Ardeche, Ariege, Aude, Aveyron, Cantal, Doubs, Drome, Haute-Garonne, Isere, Jura, Loire, Haute-Loire, Lozere, Moselle, Puy-de-Dome, Pyrénées-Atlantiques, Hautes-Pyrénées, Pyrénées-Orientales, Bas-Rhin, Haut-Rhin, Rhone, Haute-Saone, Savoie, Haute-Savoie, Tarn, Var, Vaucluse, Vosges, Territoire de Belfort.
Snow chains are recommended in icy/snowy conditions, especially when traveling in mountainous areas.
During the winter season, snow chains are mandatory on roads in mountainous areas that are marked by a road sign.
Business hours
Period of time, during regular working hours, when the car is still guaranteed for the customer, if the customer is late for pick up (the grace period) is 29 minutes.
Service outside of business hours is available by request and for an additional charge.
