Car Rental at Eindhoven Airport

Airport travel guide

Located in the south of the country, Eindhoven is sometimes overlooked for its more famous northern counterparts like Amsterdam and The Hague. But scratch beneath the surface and you’ll discover a lively, culturally rich city that also provides easy access to a number of other fun destinations. With that in mind, these are some of the most interesting attractions in and around Eindhoven:

• Van Abbemuseum. Although not especially large, Eindhoven’s main art museum punches way above its weight when it comes to its collection — among the paintings on display are works by such world-famous masters as Picasso, Kandinsky, and Mondrian. Centrally located, the museum is near the Dommel river and several other Eindhoven landmarks. Visit the museum’s official website to learn more.
• Eindhoven Museum. Inhabited since the Iron Age, important during the Industrial Revolution, and still very relevant today, the city of Eindhoven has experienced many fascinating things over centuries. The best place to learn about them is the small, but interesting municipal museum that explores the history, art, and folklore of the Noord-Brabant region. Visit the museum’s website to learn more.
• Churches. Eindhoven is home to a large number of impressive churches, most of which are distinct examples of the Brabantine Gothic and Neogothic styles. Notable ones include the Oude Toren church which dates back to the 14th century, as well as the more recent, but equally interesting Paterskerk and Sint Joriskerk.
• Maastricht. Known for its many universities and proximity to Belgium and Germany, Maastricht is one of the most international cities in the Netherlands. Better yet, it is known as the culinary capital of the country and also boasts a large number of heritage buildings and quality museums. Located about 86 km (53 miles) south of Eindhoven, it can be reached by car in 1 hour and 10 minutes.
• Antwerp. Located in the north of neighboring Belgium, just a 75 minute drive west of Eindhoven, Antwerp is a worthy day trip destination. Known for its major port, historic diamond industry, and high quality of living, Antwerp has also plenty to offer in terms of impressive architecture, varied cultural institutions, and entertainment. As you will be crossing an international border, do ask your rental car provider in advance if they permit it.
