The two main places for picking up a rental car in Trapani are the city’s international airport and the city’s ferry port. The former is a 20-minute drive south of the city while the latter is very centrally located and near a number of local attractions and popular hotels.
Can you drive from Trapani to Palermo?
Yes, absolutely – it is perhaps the most popular trip in the northern part of Sicily. Palermo is some 110 km (68 miles) to the east, a trip that takes about 90 minutes. You can either go to explore Palermo and then return to Trapani or choose one of the car rental companies that allows one-way rentals.
Can you drive from Trapani to Lo Zingaro nature reserve?
Yes, it’s also possible — and highly recommended, as Lo Zingaro is perhaps the most beautiful protected area in the Trapani region. You cannot drive inside the reserve itself, but the southern entrance, located about a 50-minute drive northeast of Trapani, has a parking lot, and you can proceed on foot from there.
