Airport travel guide

One of the largest cities in southern Germany, Stuttgart is primarily known for its industrial acumen and high quality of living. However, the city also offers plenty of culture, history, and charm for anyone willing to scratch beneath the surface — and as the capital of Baden-Württemberg, it can also serve as a hub for exploring that large and interesting German state. These are some of the most interesting attractions in and around Stuttgart:
- Schlossplatz. The most famous area of the city, Castle Square, is both an attraction in its own right and the location of many of Stuttgart’s most famous landmarks. These include the stunning 18th-century Neues Schloss, the Königsbau, and many more, as well as other famous points of attraction that are just a short walk away.
- Neue Schloss. Already mentioned for its central location, but always deserving of more attention, the New Palace is practically guaranteed to feature on any promotional tourism video of Stuttgart, and for a good reason. Dating back to the 18th century, the imposing Baroque palace is one of a kind and stands out not just for its sheer size and beautiful facade, but also its gardens and opulent halls.
- Kunstmuseum. The main contemporary and modern art institution of the city, this museum is known both for its exterior resembling a glass cube and the collection of works of many notable German and foreign creators. Belonging to the City of Stuttgart, it celebrates its 60th birthday in 2023, and in addition to displaying art is a site of frequent cultural events. Visit is official English language website to learn more.
- Mercedes-Benz Museum. The Daimler and Benz families hailed from the area and the Mercedes-Benz headquarters is located here, so it is only appropriate that Stuttgart is also home to the official Mercedes-Benz Museum. Located in a unique building and greeting nearly 1 million visitors every year, the museum showcases cars from different eras and also explains the history of the company in an interactive way. Those who liked a visit here will probably also enjoy a visit to the Porsche Museum which is only a 20-minute drive to the northwest.
- Wilhelma. This is a historic zoological and botanical garden in Stuttgart, Germany. Originally built as a royal palace in the mid-19th century, it has since been transformed into a popular attraction with a wide variety of exotic animals, diverse plant species, and stunning architectural elements that make it a unique destination for visitors of all ages.
- The Stuttgart TV Tower. The Stuttgart TV Tower, also known as the Fernsehturm Stuttgart, is a distinctive telecommunications tower located in Stuttgart, Germany. Standing at a height of 216 meters, it offers an observation deck with panoramic views of the city and surrounding countryside, making it a popular tourist attraction and a prominent landmark in Stuttgart.
- Heidelberg. Notable for its old universities, baroque architecture, and historic feel, Heidelberg is one of the loveliest destinations in this part of the country. In addition to historic landmarks like the imposing Heidelberg Castle, many of the city’s attractions are related to the fields of science and research. The drive from Stuttgart takes about 90 minutes.
