Car Rental at Curitiba Airport

Airport travel guide

Located on the way between Sao Paulo and Rio to its north and Iguazu Falls to the west, Curitiba is an interesting destination in its own right. One of the largest cities of the culturally distinct Brazilian South, it is known for its well-preserved architecture and high quality of living. These are three of the most interesting attractions in and around it:

• Ópera de Arame. Arguably one of the most unusual – and most beautiful – opera houses in the world, Arame can be found in Pedreiras Park, its transparent ceiling providing views of the greenery and water that surrounds it. Fit for almost 2,500 visitors, it frequently hosts various concerts, shows, and performances. The word ‘arame’ means ‘wire’ in Portuguese, referring to the material out of which the building is created.
• Botanical Garden of Curitiba. Speaking of urban greenery, Curitiba is one of the best cities for encountering it in all of South America. The city’s botanical gardens, instantly recognizable for the look of its main greenhouse, provide home to thousands of plant species with a special focus on the flora of the Atlantic woodlands, the characteristic ecosystem of the region.
• Arab Memorial. Over the last two centuries, Brazil has welcomed thousands of Arabic-speaking people, especially those originating in the countries of Syria and Lebanon in the Levant region, with Curitiba being one of the modern Arab-Brazilian centers. The memorial celebrates their presence in the city and the country, with its look paying homage to the classical Moor architecture – it wouldn’t look out of place in Granada or Marrakesh.
