Stayed in San Blas on the south coast, really liked the resort but there was a lot of loud overhead airplanes. We took a trip around the island, we liked Los Gigantes but the rest of the west coast was a bit too commercialised and touristy for our liking. Really loved Los Abrigos another resort on the South coast and would go back there, had a definate Spanish vibe but not sure about aircraft noise as we only visited for a few hours.

La Palma is a great island for walkimg/hiking - but very hilly. You're either driving up or downhill so you need a decent car with good power and good brakes. I couldn't actually believe our Skoda was only 1.0 litre - it sailed up the hills, no problem!

Papagayo beach is very picturesque and good for snorkelling. It can get busy and there is no shade. The restaurant/cafe is a steep climb too and as it is the only one around is a bit pricey. Restaurants at Playa Blanca seafront are nice. There is an Argentinian restaurant in the Playa Blanca area called El Argentine that was good, and the varied restaurants on Calle Irlanda I would also recommend.

Navigation around Lanzarote is fairly easy and the roads smooth and places are well signposted. If your new to driving on the RH side of the road have a good front seat passenger, remember to look left at junctions and roundabouts, brush up on traffic laws and conditions, speed is in KMP . Take your time and enjoy the island.

You don't need to travel far to experience Lanzarote. Cactus Garden is magnificent. The cave tour is lovely and the 'echo surprise' is-- well its surprising. Casar Manrique home is stunning!

Great views and good quality reasonable food at Othelo restaurant at the start of the Baranco del inferno walk in Adeje,
La Calleta for lovely restaurants on the seafront,
Palm Mar to lighthouse walk, and El Poris to Arico Nuevo for a longer walk with stunning views ( take a picknic )
Golf del sur is pretty and quieter than the big resorts but has lots of new developments under way!
