The Canary Islands are a fantastic destination to explore in the winter, from beaching to hiking, one can’t go wrong. Some mountain roads are challenging, but very beautiful to drive through. Would recommend stopping for a lunch or dinner at some small town restaurant, authentic food and very friendly people.

It is an excellent place to go for a family holiday. Lots of activities like hiking, trekking, water sports, from the peaks to the sand dunes, rugged west coast and the caldera. Great island to explore by car with lots of hikes and beautiful scenery. Small car recommended, especially for mountain roads. Mountain roads are a bit tricky (better to be an experienced driver), but you get used to them and they were mostly empty in early March, just pull over for occasional locals to pass by. Most parking in the mountains was roadside or unpaved car parks.
