Goldcar at Lanzarote Airport

Pros: Delay on completing paperwork on pickup due to only 1person on desk and queue of about 10 people.

Pros: Very cheap price, desk in the airport, very helpful and pleasant desk staff,

Cons: I bought this hire through Discovery Cars, but had no idea it was actually through Goldcar. So it was quite a long time getting nowhere until i noticed the Goldstar in small writing on the hire document. All good then!

Pros: At drop off there are people to check the vehicle.

Cons: Terrible slow at the rental office taking 50 minutes in a queue. Awful. The car had damage on every panel, including the roof! The rear lar el shelf was broken and only one support cord. I took a video as best as possible but it was difficult to get all round access due to the shelter above the car. I have never seen a car with so many areas of damage, and on every corner. With 49000 km on the clock the badly damaged body is very, very disappointing. Drives well, but only did .less than 80km.

Pros: the car had some marks and damage on it already when we collected it and the was some stains on the rear seats but overall this didn't affect us using the car and we were very happy with the service

Cons: Not enough staff so took ages to be served, agent was pushy about taking extra insurance and made me feel very nervous about not taking it. Car was old with a lot of miles and a lot of damage.

Cons: The cleanliness of the car was not great. We also had an issue with the door shutting alarm, to be fair they replace the car without problem but had to drive to the airport to pick the replacement up.

Cons: Slow pick up. Only 1 agent and a cystomer with a problem taking 20 minutes. Multiple dents and scratches making verification and documentation difficult pre driving away

Cons: Except for having to wait 50 minutes (and others waiting in front well over an hour!) in the terminal to collect the car, everything fine as found previously with Goldcar.

Pros: The car pick up/drop off was fine, easy to find and the queue wasn’t very long, a 15 minute wait. A good price and the car was fine. Just be careful about specifying car drop off time, it seems the system defaults to the same time as pick up with no way to change this without taking the car back and rebooking another car. Some flexibility would be nice, I do understand that if the car is going out again on the same day there could be issues but they wouldn’t check, just a flat NO, be warned.

Cons: Although polite the inflexibility on extending the rental period by 3 hours seemed harsh! No checking to see if the car was to be reused on the same day, just a flat NO!!

Pros: Engine management light came on and went into limp mode - reset it by turning ignition on and off but occasionally it also felt as if the clutch had gone so had to double de clutch to activate until it sorted itself

Cons: Poor explanation of where to pick up the car & more importantly the drop off, no signage on airport approach like there was prior to moving from the top car park to the lower level, I had to go through the car park twice resulting in a very small charge before being directed by a TUI rep how to get to the lower level.

Cons: Took out upgraded full insurance cover, but was still asked to upgrade further on car collection. When dropping car off I asked if they were going to check on condition but said no need as I had full upgraded insurance.

Cons: Length of time to refund credit card block for fuel and excess cover. Car was badly scratched all over meaning that it would be hard to tell if it had been further scratched whilst on our hire. I'd like to know why the rental companies, having presumably charged an excess for the cosmetic damage, never seem to repair it.
