- Scuba-diving. You can do all kinds of water sports in Barbados, but nothing beats the amazing scuba diving opportunities that you find here. From training courses for beginners to challenging dives for pros, the ocean and its flora and fauna are fascinating to explore. Many of the best dives are located near Bridgetown, in Oistins and in Speightstown.
- Andromeda Gardens. There are many botanic gardens in the highlands of Central Eastern Barbados, with Andromeda Gardens arguably the most spectacular ones. Go on a long walk and explore the fascinating species of plants, flowers, birds, and animals that live here, many of them endemic to the island.
- Harrison’s Cave. Famous for its mysterious caverns, stalactites and stalagmites, and accesses by a subterranean tramway, Harrison’s Cave is one of the most impressive landmarks of Barbados. Located in the uplands of Barbados, Harrison’s Cave is just around 30 minutes drive northeast of Bridgetown

There are two terminals, which are located inside the same building. The easiest way to get from one to the other is to walk.
Location
Bridgetown Airport is about 20km (12.5 miles) east of the city centre of Bridgetown and takes 30-40 minutes to reach. Tom Adams Highway/H6 and River Road are the main roads connecting the airport to the city. Other popular destinations on Barbados are also within reach — Bathsheba is 23km (14 miles) northeast of the airport and takes 35 minutes to reach while Speightstown is 35km (21 miles) northwest of the airport and takes 55 minutes to reach by car.

I toured the west coast driving to Speightstown. Visited the Haymans market and enjoyed local bajan cuisine . I also visited several sites of historic places that interest, enjoyed the Independence celebrations. The beaches : Miami Beach , silver sands and
Carlisle were choppy in n the days I attended but I could stay bathe in the sea.

Holetown is definitely the best area to base yourself on Barbados. More up market and more central (and more expensive) than St Lawrence Gap, and equally plenty of night life. Also easy driving access to explore the whole island. Recommend Hunte's Gardens, Andromeda Gardens, Orchid World Tropcial Gardens. Best restaurant in Holetown for balance of quality, value and ambience is Nishi, but so many more to choose from.

Using the car to go to the beach, enjoy several great meals and events was great. It was the right size to fit all our gear or transport friends. Nice looking car too and very efficient. Really enjoyed visiting Flatzone, Wendys, Rascals, Concave and other great palces to eat on the island. Looking forward to doing it again next year.

We were located 10 minutes from airport. We needed a car as we were not staying at an Airbnb or resort but at a local home. We drove everywhere. Most drives were 10-15 minutes. Some 20minutes while other were north of the island taking an hour. Bathsheba is a must visit. Babydoll by the sea in Hastings was lovely and the food was excellent. Mojo on Wednesday night for live reggae music and vibes, Brighton Farmers market on Saturday, Worthing square, pebbles beach to see the horses swim early morning, Oistins for Friday night food from Pats, so much to explore of local areas including visits to Bridgetown. Visit QP Bistro on Sundays for live music from 2pm to 5pm and then stay for dinner and magnificent views and more! I haven’t mentioned half the places we visited but without the car we would have been limited or spent more on taxis fares/buses which would have cut into our time. We will hire a car again so we can explore more next time. The local people are friendly and helpful and you learn hidden gems to visit.

We visited lots of beaches - The Crane, Rockley, Miami, Bathsheba, Enterprise. The Botanical Gardens are beautiful and definitely worth a visit! We went out on Cool Runnings catamaran tour to swim with the turtles for my daughter’s 7th birthday - a wonderful experience. We tried many restaurants (Primo, CafeSol, Harlequin, Tapas, Dis Ole House) and also enjoyed Oistins fish fry on Fridays…Pats Place is the best! We also had a fun night out at Harbour Lights! Can’t wait to return.

Seeing the island from a car was superb - allowing flexibility to see from Animal Flower Cane to Bottom bay and dine at some of the best restaurants- Cala Roca mtge food was outstanding, The Tides the night was magica for an amazing all round service - food - ambience experience.
At the other end of the scale One Love in Holetown on Sunday and Lemon Rock on Saturday in Fitts Village had a vibe we won’t forget.
Fishing with Robbie 1 246 233 2598 was superb and so knowledgeable.

I lived in barbados previously and coming home was like rediscovering the island as much has changed. Would recommend Limegrove as a great evening out. Specifically the Michael Hinds Bar which we dined at for our anniversary.

Although Barbados has an extensive bus system, a rental car gives you much more flexibility. I would recommend the use of a satnav as some of the road signage is confusing. We took our Garmin with a pre-loaded Barbados map. Don't be afraid to ask locals for directions and stop for a chat. People are very approachable and friendly.
Barbados has a good mix of attractions and beaches. Beaches get a bit busy at weekends. I recommend St Nicholas Abbey and its heritage railway and Hunte's Gardens as top places to visit.
