Pros: Exceptionally bad service. A scam! In my contract with discover card it was a deposition at 15000, when I came to pick up the car Hertz said 27000. When I then spoke to discover cars about the problem the information I got was that something must have gone wrong but I need to pay the deposition at 27000 to get the car even though my contract said 15000. Why should I act as a bank for discover cars? They should have paid the difference!

Pros: Car was just as I expected for a two month old car.

Cons: Didn’t really explain the collection and return process and I found I had an extra debit on my account, over and above the rental, for which I am still waiting for an answer. The fuel was on a full to full basis and I suspect they charged for fuel, even though I filled the tank just before I returned the car. I don’t know how they could have squeezed in more fuel, unless they filled to the brim, which is a dangerous practice.

I think the amount you all hold compared to the states is unfair and that you dont participate in the rewards programs that the states have for the EXACT same company but yet you hold a larger amount to rent a car. Knowing that we cant run off with the car being that we are out of the country. So unfair.

Cons: Firsly gave us a car with one bald tyre with no tread on, during a rainstorm! Then, when they replaced it, gave us a half full tank of petrol and took the original car half full and charged us for the fuel refill. After querying and showing evidence we had to pay to fill up the replacement car, they only refunded some of the money.

Free cancellation with a full refund up to 48 hours before your pick-up time, Unlimited mileage, Collision Damage Waiver (deductible: ~€ 665.00), Theft Protection, Contract fee, Third Party Liability (TPL), Airport surcharge, Tourism levy, Free modifications, State Tax.
Mileage policy
For international renters, mileage is unlimited.
A local renter is defined as a renter who is a resident of South Africa.
For local renters mileage is limited to 200 km per day.
The cost for additional mileage (mileage extension) depends on the vehicle type.
Driver requirements
Minimum rental age is 18 years.
A Young driver fee is not applied.

There is no maximum age.
A Senior driver fee is not applied.

The driver license must have been issued by authorized authorities at least 1 year(s) before the date of the commencement of the rental.

A driver license printed using a non-Roman alphabet (Arabic, Japanese, Cyrillic, etc) must be supplemented by an International Driving Permit. Please note that the International Driving Permit is valid only if it is accompanied by a regular driver's license, is issued by an official authority or government-authorized organization, and is in physical (not digital) form.
Customers are only allowed to rent only if they agree to a credit check and their credit score is satisfactory.

In order to pick up the car, the following documents are required: valid driver license, credit card on a main drivers name, Passport or ID card, booking voucher.

Delivery/Collection service is available only by previous request.
Fuel policy
The vehicle is provided with a full tank of fuel and must be returned with the same amount in order to avoid additional charges.
Additional information
Driving restrictions will apply to certain locations. More information will be available at the rental desk.
The vehicle must be returned in an acceptably clean condition in order to avoid additional charges.
Business hours
The supplier will hold the vehicle for 59 minutes after your scheduled pick-up time as long as it is within their normal business hours. After this time, your booking may be canceled without refund.
