A car rental business serving New Zealand, Discount’s vehicles can be found in the cities of Auckland and Christchurch (the largest on the North and South islands, respectively), and their international airports, as well as in the city of Queenstown, a beloved South Island holiday destination known for its spectacular nature. Discount Car Rentals also serves three smaller locations in the country — Kaitaia, Waiheke Island, and Kerikeri.
Discount Car Rentals is affiliated with Mike Vinsen Motors, a car importer that has been operating in the country for decades. Discount would become a separate company in 2007.
The company allows customers to take their cars onboard the interisland ferries between the North and South Islands as well as other car ferries in the country. The company also offers one-way rentals even between the islands, so you can start at Auckland Airport and end at Christchurch or Queenstown Airports. There’s an additional fee for that, though, and it needs to be booked in advance.
