I packed a lot into my holiday in Mauritius and in the west and south you definitely need a car to get around more easily than in the north. Taxis are expensive and having a car gives you more freedom and independence. Do your research as there is so much to explore - beaches, mountains, waterfalls, gorges, lagoons, mangroves, nature parks, villages, city spaces etc
