Jamaica’s second-largest city and arguably its most popular tourist destination, Montego Bay is a fun place to visit. Naturally, it is best known for its Caribbean coastline, but Mo Bay also boasts other types of attractions for the curious traveler to explore. Better yet, the city can also serve as a hub for exploring the rest of northwest Jamaica. With that in mind, these are three of the most interesting attractions in and around Montego Bay:

• The beaches. Plenty of beautiful beaches and resorts are located around Montego Bay, all of which can be easily accessed with a rental car. These include popular spots such as Doctor Cave’s Beach, Cornwall Beach, and Walter Fletcher Beach. Most of these beaches charge admission, but the prices are fairly reasonable. Montego Bay is also a popular hub for kitesurfing and diving.
• Dunn’s River Park & Falls. Located in Ocho Rios, another notable town on Jamaica’s northern coast, Dunn’s River is one of the most popular day trips from Montego Bay. A scenic waterfall, it can either be observed from below or even climbed under the instructions of a local guide. The trip to Dunn’s River takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes.
• Negril. Another tourist hotspot, Negril is just as scenic as Montego Bay but perhaps a bit slower-paced and relaxed. Negril is known for its great snorkeling, and locals also claim that it has the most beautiful sunsets in all of Jamaica. The trip from Montego Bay takes about 90 minutes.

Montego Bay Airport is around 5 km (3.1 mi) east of the city center. The Queens Drive, Orange Street, and Albion Road are the main roads connecting the airport to Montego Bay.
