One of the most magnificent cities in not just Europe, but all of the planet, Paris requires no introduction. The City of Light’s attractions and landmarks could be listed for pages upon pages. Here are three suggestions of places that can be found in the southern part of the city where the Orly Airport – favored by many low-cost airlines – is also located:

• Versailles. Synonymous with glamour, extravagance, and royal magnificence, the city of Versailles is best known for the palace and gardens built by the French monarch Louis XIV. In addition to the royal complex (information on tickets and admission hours can be found on its website), there’s plenty of other architectural – and culinary – joy to be found. Versailles is especially easy to access by car from Orly Airport as you can travel there directly, in about 30 minutes, without the need to go through the city center.
• Musée d'Art Contemporain du Val-de-Marne. Also technically located outside Paris, on the way from Orly Airport to the city itself, this is one of the best contemporary art museums in the Greater Paris area, if not all of France. Having opened relatively recently, in 2005, in a purpose-created building, it accommodates works by practically all of the most relevant modern French artists working in a dizzying array of media.
• Exploradôme. Extremely hands-on and interactive, Exploradôme is a family-friendly science museum and a very popular place to visit for travelers with children. Its exhibitions cover optical illusions, turbulence, and various other scientific-but-fun topics. Like the aforementioned Contemporary Art Museum, Exploradôme is not in Paris itself, but in the neighboring southern town of Vitry-sur-Seine, about a 20 minute drive from Orly Airport and about 25 minutes from the city center.

The airport has four terminals known simply as T1, T2, T3, and T4. Thanks to the newly built T3 which was opened in 2019, all the terminals are interconnected to each other.

The airport is on the southern outskirts of Paris, about 17km (11 miles) from the city center.

A gas station is part of the airport complex and will be on your right when you’re approaching the airport. This gas station is open from 7.00 a.m. to 10.00 p.m. There are many other gas stations near Orly Airport and on the way from the city.
