Buffalo Niagara International Airport is the major airport serving Buffalo, Niagra Falls, and the rest of western New York. It is also a popular place for Canadians to fly to to reach southern Ontario, as flights are often cheaper than to Toronto.

Many fly to the airport to reach Niagra Falls. The Canadian side is sometimes regarded as a better experience. If you plan to cross the border with your rental car, be sure to check with your supplier beforehand to make sure it's ok with them. Generally, you shouldn't have to pay more nor purchase extra insurance (though you may have to purchase roadside assistance).

Terminals

There is only one terminal at the airport, and it only has a single concourse with 26 gates. You'll be able to get around the airport easily and quickly.

Location

The airport is located roughly 10 miles northeast of downtown Buffalo. It takes about 15 minutes or so to drive between them if traffic isn't backed up. Niagra Falls is about 25 miles to the northwest of the airport or about a 30-minute drive. Be sure to take the Scenic Parkway to reach them and enjoy the views.

Car rental desks

The car rental desks for those companies located at the airport (all of the major brands) are in the parking garage across from the exit out of baggage claim. There's no need to take a shuttle.

Services and facilities

Buffalo Airport has all the facilities you would expect of an airport its size. There are a few restaurants, bars, and coffee shops — even a Tim Horton's (though it is currently closed as of May 2022). The airport also has a barbershop if you need a haircut while waiting for your flight. There is also wifi available in the terminal.

Nearest gas station

A Citgo and a Sunoco station can be found on Dick Rd. just south of the airport. Though there are a couple of stations that seem closer to the airport, they are harder to reach when coming from the expressway.
