- Ciutadella. The other notable town of Menorca, Ciutadella is located on the island’s western coast and is about a 45-minute drive from Maó. Founded by the Carthaginian civilization more than 2,000 years ago, Ciutadella is best known for its impressive Gothic cathedral, slightly newer 17th-century Italian architecture (uncharacteristic of Spain) and the lively fish and meat market that takes place in Ciutadella’s Freedom Square.
- Beaches. Although home to interesting history, architecture, and culture, the main draw of Menorca is undoubtedly its coastline. With 215 km (133 miles) of it, there’s plenty to choose from, and hiring a car gives you the opportunity to explore the most interesting beaches of Menorca outside of the main tourist resorts. Loved staying in Ciutadella city was beautiful and perfect for us it meant a good range of restaurants every evening.
Having the car meant we were able to visit lovely beaches and villages.Fornells , SaTomas, sou bou, calla Blanca . Nice visit to Mahón too 👍🏻

We landed in the storm beaches and water was dmelly and the sea was merky cleared up towards the end of the holiday. Arrived at villa at 11pm anc electricity was off and villa was flooded took till 2 am to sort, villa smelt of sewage all week regardless off mentinance putting chemicals in the drains.

Menorca is a wonderful island, you can tell the locals take pride from Mahón to the smallest village. Friendly staff and service, perfect for a ‘getaway’ - no crowded beaches, no swanky clubs, just beautiful scenery and every other amenity you could ask for- water sports are a must.

Menorca is a beautiful island and great to explore with a hire car. The roads are smooth and offer a in the most part easily navigatable wide roads. There are a few smaller roads if you go off the beaten path but it is your choice what you do.

Even though we were 3 hours late picking up the car and it was gone 10 pm due to flight delay, there was no problem. Desk staff were polite and helpfull, no pressure to take insurence, the car was new and the drop off very smooth. It was slightly difficult to find the mini bus on arrivall but other than that you could not fault anything.

Menorca is small enough to see most things in a 7 to 10 day holiday. The use of a car is essential though if you want to visit Mahon, Ciudadella, and the North and South coast resorts. Parking was free everywhere we went and the roads were quiet during the last 2 weeks of May.

Menorca is a small island. Many restaurants were closed or had limited opening hours during our stay (early October). Temperature was mid 20s at peak but fell as low as 10 at night.
