We visited most of the sites in the West and in the East. We enjoyed the views from Cabo Girao, the harbour in Calheta, the Ponta do Pargo lighthouse and the natural pools of Porto Moniz. We had a great fish meal at Marisqueira restaurant and watched the sunset. Also enjoyed our meal at La Ao Fundo restaurant which had a fantastic ambiance and live music. The highlight of our holiday was a visit to Monte Palace Tropical Gardens. It would take too long to explain why, you just have to visit it.

I went for the New Year celebrations with my Wife and Daughter. The experience of the amazing celebrations was incredible and breathtaking. We stayed for a further 7 days and discovered Madeira again. We visit the Island every couple of years, but always in the summer. This was our first visit for New Year and we luckily came prepared for the incredible variations of weather at this time of year. Truly amazing trip, revisting all the fabulous restaurants, viewpoints and discovering the museums.

Madeira is a breathtaking island with stunning scenery, well worth a visit. The road infrastructure is very impressive but there are some very windy, steep roads so you need to be a confident driver and I recommend hiring a powerful car.
