Can I use someone else’s credit card when picking up the car?
You cannot use someone else’s credit card for the security deposit at the rental desk.
The physical credit card presented at pick-up must be in the exact name of the Main Driver listed on your booking.
Step-by-Step Guide:
Look at the physical credit card you plan to use for the deposit.
Make sure the name on the physical credit card matches the Main Driver’s license exactly.
If the card owner is travelling with you and has a valid driver’s license, the easiest solution is to modify your booking to make them the Main Driver.
A secondary "Additional Driver" cannot leave the security deposit. The person financially responsible for the vehicle must always be the Main Driver on the contract.
Even if you are using a company credit card, it must have the Main Driver's personal name printed on it. Cards that only show the company name will be rejected by the supplier.
"I paid for the booking online with my wife's card, so I can use it at the counter."
Online prepayments are flexible and can be made with any card. The security deposit at the desk is a strict legal requirement. Rental suppliers require the Main Driver to provide the financial guarantee in their own name.
"I have a permission letter and a photocopy of the card owner's ID."
Rental suppliers do not accept written permission notes or phone calls from the cardholder. The person leaving the deposit must be physically present and sign onto the rental agreement as the Main Driver.
💡 Did You Know?
If you arrive without a credit card in the Main Driver’s name, the supplier may deny the rental entirely, classifying it as a non-refundable No-Show booking.
What To Do Next:
If the current Main Driver does not have a credit card in their name, log in to "My Booking" to change the Main Driver to the card owner (provided they have a valid driver's license). For assistance modifying the reservation before arrival, contact our support team.
