We stayed in Lagos and traveled back and forth between Lagos, Portimao, Albufeira and Lisboa. Great use of a car. Easy finding parking. We visited to vineyards and much much more, truly a freedom to have a car in Algarve

Kayaking in Lagos was great. Golf @ Boavista Golf was challenging & fun. Some fantastic nights out @ Nau Beech-club in Ferragudo, Por do Sol Restaurant Alvor, No Patio, Mena, Oh Henrique & Tasca Do Kiko Restaurants in Lagos. Also good Craft Beer & people @ Collab Bar, La Estrella & Beer & Co in Lagos. Nice stays @ Faro Hotel & Beech Club & Boavista Golf & Country Club.

We were staying in the Algarve just outside Portimao. Such a beautiful place. The people are all very welcoming and approachable. The food, if you like sea food, was amazing. There is no point in recommending any one place over the other because everywhere you go is fantastic and has it's own uniqueness about it.

We stayed in 2 towns, Albufeira and Tavira, both wonderful in different ways. The former is lively and bustling. The latter is quiet and uncrowded with very few tourists on the streets or in restaurants. We discovered 2 amazing Michelin star restaurants, Vista and A Ver Tavira. Both are extraordinary.

Loved everything about it, however I would most likely pick a different time to go to Portugal. Most attractions are closed over the New Years period and although we were fortunate with the weather it would be advisable to go a little later in the season, say March on.

The car provided by AirAuto was great to get to many of Portugal 's great but remote destinations. This included: castles, beaches, museums, restaurants, etcetera. I would use AirAuto again. A good clean and well maintained car that was good on gas.

If you are renting a car in Algarve, Portugal you should definitely visit Cape of St. Vincent and towns like Tavira or Lagos. Albufeira is a nice city but to commercial and crowded for me.

We rented a car in Faro so that we could explore Algarve area. We drove to different areas/beaches and saw some beautiful rocks and caves. Parking can be a little challenging in some crowded beach areas but generally it was okay.

we rented the Mitsubishi Space star.. Its a great LITTLE car.. If you have four people, maybe think about a bigger car.
