Cons: The car was such of a basic model that it did not even have a backup camera. The person who gave us the car was not familiar with changing the settings at all!

Pros: They were very efficient and pickup and drop off were fantastic. Valadas in Porto at pickup was amazing and Alex and Mario in Albufeira at drop off were fantastic. I feel they went over and above to help us.

Cons: Alex did send me a email which included the google maps of where they were but the email should include in writing the drop off location is below a hotel which you cannot see from the road. Little nooks and road ways in Portugal nothing like what we would have in Canada. We had a hard time finding the place as my GPS took us to the right spot but we couldn't see it so we drove around trying to find it and had to ask people and finally found it. A hidden road below the hotel.

Pros: Sixt was horrible to deal with. At pick up, agent gave inaccurate and wrong information that ended costing additional costs. The agent, on 3 request, affirmed the credit card is not charged for potential incidental costs but rather only reserved if needed. My credit card was actually charged, leading to currency conversion costs and credit card fees.

Pros: Support was provided from the time the car reservation was confirmed until drop off. Very helpful, especially when traveling in a foreign country.

Cons: The car pick up took 1.5 hours! Also the reservation stated the counter was closed and we would be meeting an agent for pick up. Not true, counter was open...so all the anxiety of meeting someone at pick up time was for naught.

Pros: Rep explained several things including the toll device use and did not pressure to purchase additional services.

Cons: Discover Cars indicated that the Sixit office would not be open for pick up and that there would be a "meet and greet " to get the car. Turns out that the Sixit office was open. This was confusing but worked out well.

Free cancellation with a full refund up to 48 hours before your pick-up time, Unlimited mileage, Collision Damage Waiver (deductible: € 1450.00), Theft Protection, Third Party Liability (TPL), Airport surcharge, Free modifications, State Tax, Surcharges.
Rate excludes
Many highways in Portugal are tolled using only electronic means.
All rental vehicles are equipped with a transponder that can be used for paying for all toll roads.
You’ll be charged a service fee of1.85 EUR day up to a maximum of 18.50 EUR rental in addition to the tolls, which will be charged to your credit card after the rental period.
You may also be required to leave an additional deposit for tolls.
Driver requirements
Minimum rental age is 19 years.
A young driver fee applies to drivers under the age of 25.

There is no maximum age.
A Senior driver fee is not applied.

The driver license must have been issued by authorized authorities at least 1 year(s) before the date of the commencement of the rental.

A driver license printed using a non-Roman alphabet (Arabic, Japanese, Cyrillic, etc) must be supplemented by an International Driving Permit.
Driver licenses from non-EU countries (except Switzerland) are accepted if no visa has been entered in the passport.
All non-EU residents staying in the EU for longer than 6 months must present a driving licence from an EU country.
Please note that the International Driving Permit is valid only if accompanied by the regular driver license.

In order to pick up the car, the following documents are required: valid driver license, credit card on a main drivers name, Passport or ID card, booking voucher.
Deposit and deductible policy
A deposit will be blocked on the customer's credit card until the end of the rental period.
The exact deposit is determined on pick up since the amount is dependent on the type of vehicle.
Optional extras and services
Available special equipment: GPS Navigation system, Baby seat (up to 1 year of age), Child seat (2-4 years of age), Booster seat (4-10 years of age), Cross border fee.
Prices for extras are shown on the booking page.

Adding additional drivers is allowed.
There is an additional charge for each driver.
Underage additional drivers are subject to both Young Driver and Additional Driver fees.
When picking up the vehicle, all drivers must be present and must provide valid documentation.

Delivery/Collection service is available within city limits. Additional charges will be applied, depending on the distance.
Fuel policy
The vehicle is provided with a full tank of fuel and must be returned with the same amount in order to avoid additional charges.
Alternatively, the renter may purchase a tank full of fuel at the time of rental and return the tank empty.
In no case will a refund be given for unused fuel.
Business hours
Service outside of business hours is available by request and for an additional charge.

Period of time, during regular working hours, when the car is still guaranteed for the customer, if the customer is late for pick up (the grace period) is 60 minutes.
