Cons: Car looked like a wreck. We weren’t given full info at the desk to explain process. Agent was more interested in taking to colleagues and discussing customers than explaining any collection or drop off processes. Eventually we were helped by an agent outside the office who was dealing with drop offs. On return the signposting at the airport was terrible. We went round the airport 4 times before we eventually found the correct entry point for car rentals. Very ooor experience all round.

Pros: Goldcar customer service were not focused on the customer. The only focus is selling additional costs to customer and ensuring that the customer feels fearful enough to buy more from Goldcar

Cons: When we arrived at Bordeaux airport, gold car team spent a lot of time trying to sell an upgrade and trying to instill fear in customers so we paid more to cover the excess insurance even though I had stated I had already had a an excess insurance cover. The approach by the gold car company in France is to sell aggressively and try to get customers to spend more money, rather than welcome the new customer that has arrived and has already paid a lot of money to hire a car from the company.

Cons: The surprise that a 9% surcharge was to be applied onto a foreign card, without prior knowledge, which then forced me to spent 100 euros more on your insurance. Your sales rep was kind and did everything she could to help, but ultimately it is that policy which means I will never rent from Goldcar again.

Cons: The receptionist was quite rude and persisted in trying to up sell even after I’d made it very clear that I didn’t require any further insurance cover. The proposed increase in cost was significantly more than the cost of the rental and equated to over €10,000 per annum!

Cons: Scam company that created a mark/scratch on the right bumper to be able to charge 260 euros for the scratch. Unfortunately, we had to drop keys at reception because they said they were too busy, and we did no take pictures before doing so. There are sveral reveiws online about Goldcar showing that this is common practice from this company. This is not a reputable firm, and should be avoided.

Pros: Nice gent who handled the return. Fortunately he didn't try and take our deposit off because of all the many previous scratches on the car.

Cons: The black Fiat 500 was covered in scratches or dents on every panel except the roof. The inside was filthy - nicotine on the windows. It took 45 minutes to get the customer service agent to agree and write down all the not recorded damage. They wouldn't change the car for a clean non-dented one. The female customer service rep tired to pressure us to buy their insurance for a higher cost than the whole car rental, even though I had bought insurance through Discover Cars.

Pros: Thorough, answered any questions I had, straightforward procedure for finishing with the car, both dropping it off Nd the final paperwork.

Cons: Slow when arrived to collect the car. Told me that the ' full coverage' voucher I had paid for with Discover Cars was meaningless and had been a waste of my money. I will be taking this up separately with Discover Cars.

Rate includes
Free cancellation with a full refund up to 48 hours before your pick-up time, Mileage: 1250 km per rental, Collision Damage Waiver (deductible: € 1100.00 - € 1700.00), Theft Protection, Third Party Liability (TPL), Supplemental Liability Insurance (SLI), Airport surcharge, Free modifications, State Tax, Environmental Contribution fee.
Driver requirements
Minimum rental age is 21 years.
A Young driver fee is not applied.

There is no maximum age.
A Senior driver fee is not applied.

The driver license must have been issued by authorized authorities at least 1 year(s) before the date of the commencement of the rental.

A novice driver fee will apply to drivers who have held their driver license for less than 4 years.

Driver licenses will be accepted if issued in the following country(ies): United Kingdom, EU countries.
Otherwise, the renter must provide an International Driver Permit (IDP).
A driver license printed using a non-Roman alphabet (Arabic, Japanese, Cyrillic, etc) must be supplemented by an International Driving Permit.
Please note that the International Driving Permit is valid only if accompanied by the regular driver license.

In addition to documents mentioned previously, the customer will need the following: valid driver license, credit card on a main drivers name, Passport or ID card, booking voucher, flight information.
Deposit and deductible policy
A deposit will be blocked on the customer's credit card and will be released within 30 days after drop-off.
The exact deposit is determined on pick up since the amount is dependent on the type of vehicle.
A deposit for a tank of fuel is required upon collecting the vehicle.

If the customer takes the following extra equipment: GPS Navigation system, then an additional amount of deposit will be held on their credit card.
Payment policy
The following payment methods are accepted: MasterCard credit card, VISA credit card.
It is possible to leave the deposit only with following methods: MasterCard credit card, VISA credit card.

American Express, Cash, Diners is/are not accepted.

The main driver must provide a physical payment card in their name with enough funds to cover the deposit to pick up the car. The rental company will neither accept virtual credit cards (e.g., GooglePay or ApplePay) nor someone else’s card (including family members).
Cross-border policy
From France, only travel to Andorra, France - Corsica, Italy, Monaco, Switzerland is allowed, when the vehicle has been picked up at any of the following offices: Nice, Marseille, Bordeaux, Toulouse. Information on the exact fee amount is available by request.

In the event that Cross Border & Territorial Restrictions are violated, all protections lose their validity.
Optional extras and services
Available special equipment: Baby seat (up to 1 year of age), Child seat (2-4 years of age), Booster seat (4-10 years of age).

Adding additional drivers is allowed.
There is an additional charge for each driver.
When picking up the vehicle, all drivers must be present and must provide valid documentation.

Optional extras are subject to the following additional charge(s): Premium Location surcharge, Airport Surcharge.

Fuel policy
The vehicle is provided with a full tank of fuel and must be returned with the same amount in order to avoid additional charges.
A deposit for a tank of fuel is required upon pick up.

Diesel vehicles are available only by request upon arrival.
Diesel vehicles are available for an additional charge.
Additional information
By law, winter tires are mandatory on all roads from 01.11 to 31.03 in the following regions: Ain, Allier, Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, Hautes-Alpes, Alpes-Maritimes, Ardeche, Ariege, Aude, Aveyron, Cantal, Doubs, Drome, Haute-Garonne, Isere, Jura, Loire, Haute-Loire, Lozere, Moselle, Puy-de-Dome, Pyrénées-Atlantiques, Hautes-Pyrénées, Pyrénées-Orientales, Bas-Rhin, Haut-Rhin, Rhone, Haute-Saone, Savoie, Haute-Savoie, Tarn, Var, Vaucluse, Vosges, Territoire de Belfort.
Snow chains are recommended in icy/snowy conditions, especially when traveling in mountainous areas.
Rental period
The maximum rental period per agreement is 28 days.
If the renter would like to extend the rental period, renter should return to the car hire office at the end of the rental period to sign a new agreement.
Business hours
Service outside of business hours is available by request and for an additional charge.
Period of time, during regular working hours, when the car is still guaranteed for the customer, if the customer is late for pick up (the grace period) is 59 minutes.
