Goldcar at Bordeaux Airport

Pros: Easy to find good price

Cons: Unclear signage of where the car was parked

Cons: Car looked like a wreck. We weren’t given full info at the desk to explain process. Agent was more interested in taking to colleagues and discussing customers than explaining any collection or drop off processes. Eventually we were helped by an agent outside the office who was dealing with drop offs. On return the signposting at the airport was terrible. We went round the airport 4 times before we eventually found the correct entry point for car rentals. Very ooor experience all round.

Pros: The person receiving the car back was very friendly and helpful.

Cons: Having to wait a long time to be served then a very laborious form filling system.

Pros: Great price, very helpful & friendly staff, all very smooth. I even got an upgrade to a bigger car than I had booked.

Cons: The car did have a lot of scratches & marks but again these were clearly marked on the rental agreement so wasn’t an issue.

Pros: Goldcar customer service were not focused on the customer. The only focus is selling additional costs to customer and ensuring that the customer feels fearful enough to buy more from Goldcar

Cons: When we arrived at Bordeaux airport, gold car team spent a lot of time trying to sell an upgrade and trying to instill fear in customers so we paid more to cover the excess insurance even though I had stated I had already had a an excess insurance cover. The approach by the gold car company in France is to sell aggressively and try to get customers to spend more money, rather than welcome the new customer that has arrived and has already paid a lot of money to hire a car from the company.

Cons: I was pressure sold extra insurance and given a less economical car than the one I hired. Rental doubles from quote given on line. Wrong car provided. Most disappointing

Pros: We were thinking on not spending so much in a car, but then the offer of an upgrade to a hybrid along the insurance was very attractive! We paid more, but happily!

Pros: the lady who collected our car spoke very good english and she was very polite

Cons: the lady who gave us the instructions was more interested in selling us the extra insurance

Cons: The surprise that a 9% surcharge was to be applied onto a foreign card, without prior knowledge, which then forced me to spent 100 euros more on your insurance. Your sales rep was kind and did everything she could to help, but ultimately it is that policy which means I will never rent from Goldcar again.

Cons: The receptionist was quite rude and persisted in trying to up sell even after I’d made it very clear that I didn’t require any further insurance cover. The proposed increase in cost was significantly more than the cost of the rental and equated to over €10,000 per annum!

Cons: Large number of scratches on vehicle when taken over. Makes it harder to check, not knowing what has already been recorded.

Pros: Reliable suppliers of older hire cars. A few dinks but big savings.

Cons: I got through security and baggage quicker than expected so could not pick up the car straight away.

Pros: Car drove very well but high mileage at 85k km. Large amount of external damage virtually every panel. Heavy rain on collection so very difficult to check given the large amount of damage.

Cons: Poor quality of the car externals due to high mileage otherwise excellent service

Cons: Scam company that created a mark/scratch on the right bumper to be able to charge 260 euros for the scratch. Unfortunately, we had to drop keys at reception because they said they were too busy, and we did no take pictures before doing so. There are sveral reveiws online about Goldcar showing that this is common practice from this company. This is not a reputable firm, and should be avoided.

Pros: Nice gent who handled the return. Fortunately he didn't try and take our deposit off because of all the many previous scratches on the car.

Cons: The black Fiat 500 was covered in scratches or dents on every panel except the roof. The inside was filthy - nicotine on the windows. It took 45 minutes to get the customer service agent to agree and write down all the not recorded damage. They wouldn't change the car for a clean non-dented one. The female customer service rep tired to pressure us to buy their insurance for a higher cost than the whole car rental, even though I had bought insurance through Discover Cars.

Cons: Car parking at Bordeaux - see above comment re car return Slow at time of pick up - combination of Covid restrictions PLUS when it was my turn in the queue one of your representatives went off for lunch break!

Pros: Thorough, answered any questions I had, straightforward procedure for finishing with the car, both dropping it off Nd the final paperwork.

Cons: Slow when arrived to collect the car. Told me that the ' full coverage' voucher I had paid for with Discover Cars was meaningless and had been a waste of my money. I will be taking this up separately with Discover Cars.

Cons: My car broke down and needed to be towed, it took more than 30min to get assistance from GoldCar. When i got to the airport they charged my additional fees which they said would be refunded and they have not.

Pros: The whole experience was very good.

Cons: I would have preferred to refuel the car myself and avoid the service charge.
