Tocumen International Airport

Tocumen International Airport (PTY), is Panama’s primary international airport. Located 21 km (13 miles) from Panama City, it serves as a hub for Copa Airlines, the flag carrier of Panama.

PTY is the busiest airport in Central America and welcomes more than 16 million passengers every year. The airport offers direct, nonstop flights to a number of US cities as well as to locations across North America, the Caribbean, South America, Europe, and even Istanbul.

Terminals

Tocumen International Airport (PTY) has two terminals, Terminal 1 (T1) and Terminal 2 (T2). T1 is also known as the Main Terminal. It handles domestic flights and is located on the north side of the airport. T2 is also known as the South Terminal and handles international services. A 170-meter-long pedestrian corridor connects the two terminals.

Car rental desks are in Terminal 1, on level 100.

Location

Tocumen International Airport is about 21 kilometers (13 miles) northeast of the city center. It takes 20-30 minutes to drive between the two, depending on traffic.

Services and facilities

Both of the terminals at Tocumen International Airport have lounges, as well as a variety of shops, cafes, and restaurants. You’ll also find a number of ATMs, three currency exchange desks, an information desk, a pharmacy, and a medical center for passengers needing medical assistance. There are also hotels nearby, although none are airside.

Nearest gas station

There is a Puma gas station about 1.2 kilometers (0.7 miles) from the airport. This station is located on the corner of Domingo Diaz and Circunvalacion and is open daily from 08:00–20:00 (09:00–18:00 on Sundays). There are other gas stations between the airport and Panama City as well.
