Big problem is the sargazo seaweed on the beach and in the water. Makes swimming difficult and very unpleasant. We never went into the sea. Also heaps of seaweed on the beach. Bad smell. This is the really big drawback. Also very expensive everything. More expensive than Europe.

Tulum is a special place, but note many of the roads are hard, bumpy dirt roads. I would recommend the smallest possible car that would fit your needs.

Monkey Sanctuary, swimming with sea turtles, ancient ruins in Coba, Mystika , tour of Azulik deep in the jungle, cenotes… and of course the beach. Magical place.

A lot of sargazo on the beaches. Hotels and beach clubs make a great effort to keep the beaches clean, but there is still a lot of seaweed in the water and beaches. We highly recommend visiting at least one cenote. We visited Casa Tortuga and it was worth it. Tulum is a nice destination but the overall price level is very high and in some cases extremely high for what it’s offered. We were expecting a moderate level considering it’s out of season and there is A LOT of sea weed in all the beaches
