Airport travel guide

Located in the country’s northwestern corner, Palanga is one of the most famous seaside destinations in Lithuania. In addition to its lovely Baltic coast, the city also has plenty of culture and history to explore. Here are four of the most interesting attractions in and around it:
-
Palanga Beach. The main reason Lithuanians flock to this seaside town is to enjoy the beach here. There is a beautiful and busy promenade that leads from the center of town straight down to the beach where you’ll find restaurants, cafes, bars, and ice cream parlors.
-
Klaipeda. Lithuania’s third largest city is located only 30km (18 miles) from Palanga and is a wonderful place to visit to learn more about the history of this region. There is a castle museum, an old town, and a waterfront area with restaurants and cafes.
- Curonian Spit. If Palanga beach isn’t quite enough for you, you can take a car ferry to the Curonian spit and visit the beaches of Smiltyne, the sand dunes of Nida, and the unique wooden sculptures of Juodkrante.
-
Museums. Two small, but interesting museums are located in Palanga, both showcasing the industries important to the history and present day of the town – the Resort Museum and the Amber Museum. The latter is in the Palanga Seaside Regional Park, another popular place to visit, while the former museum is a couple of kilometers north, within walking distance of the famous Jūratė and Kastytis statue and Palanga Pier.
