Airport travel guide

Grand Junction Regional Airport (GJT) is a small airport located in Grand Junction in western Colorado. Though it is the third-busiest airport in the state, it is actually quite small.
GJT is the nearest airport to scenic destinations, including the Colorado National Monument, Dinosaur National Park, and the Black Canyon of Gunnison National Park. Its proximity to eastern Utah also makes it the closest airport to Arches and Canyonlands National Parks.
Main airlines
The main airlines serving Grand Junction Regional Airport are American, Delta, and United. American Airlines has direct flights to Dallas and Phoenix. Delta Airlines has direct flights to Salt Lake City. United Airlines has direct flights to Denver and Chicago.
Other destinations served by flights from Grand Junction Regional Airport are Palm Springs, San Jose and Las Vegas.
You can also catch flights to several small towns in Colorado like Aspen, Hayden, which is part of the Steamboat Springs area, and Telluride, one of the most beautiful mountain towns in Colorado located in the San Juan Mountains.
Terminals
The airport has only one terminal with one concourse and just a few gates. This is one airport you certainly won’t get lost in.
Location
GJT is located about five miles north of downtown Grand Junction and roughly one mile north of I-70 at Exit 31. The airport is only ten miles from the entrance of Colorado National Monument, 80 miles from the South Rim Visitor Center of Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, and about 100 miles from the Canyon Visitor Center of Dinosaur National Park.
Most popular types of rental car
- Small cars - from €82 per day
- Medium cars - from €82 per day
- Large cars - from €82 per day
- SUVs - from €83 per day
- Premium cars - from €91 per day
Car rental desks
All of the car rental companies that serve the airport have desks inside the terminal across from the airline check-in desks. The airport is so small that it is almost impossible to miss the desks. The vehicles are located in a parking lot that is beside the terminal.
Services and facilities
Grand Junction Airport, being a small, regional airport, does not have all of the services and facilities that one would find in a large airport. There is a concessions store where you can purchase drinks, snacks, or sandwiches. There is no full-service restaurant or lounge. Of course, the lack of services may be compensated by the airport's convenience. No shuttle is needed to reach the rental companies and their cars are located just steps away from the airport’s building. Security is also less imposing than in larger airports and usually, travelers may pass through it much less time.
Nearest gas station
There is a Shell station located on the way to the airport once you exit I-70. However, prices at this station are usually 20 to 30 cents higher than others. Instead, once exiting I-70, head just south of the interstate where there are both Exxon and Phillips 66 stations with competitive prices.
Phillips 66 is located at 723 Horizon Dr.
Exxon is located at 722 Horizon Dr.
