Airport travel guide

One of the most interesting cities in the United Kingdom, this metropolis of the southwest has been growing in stature as a tourist destination. Not only does Bristol combine notable history with a very busy contemporary art scene, but is also surrounded by some of the most bucolic countryside in England. These are three places to visit in and around it:
- Aerospace Bristol. A unique museum, Aerospace Bristol provides an insight into the history of British aviation. Several of the aircraft that are on display, such as the Bristol Boxkite, date back to the 1900s and are some of the oldest ever made; others are from relatively more recent eras, but equally fascinating. Visit Aerospace Bristol’s official website to learn more about expositions and admission.
- We the Curious. An interactive science center, this is one of the favorite places of both local and visiting families. Home to the UK’s first ever 3D Planetarium, the museum also covers various topics such as the science of food, the human brain, and the very hands-on tinkering space, among others. Unfortunately, the museum suffered a fire in 2022, but is set to reopen during the first half of 2023 – visit its official website to learn more and see suggestions on similar sites to visit in Bristol during its restoration.
- Brecon Beacons National Park. Although located in neighboring Wales, about a 90-minute drive to the northwest, the natural beauty of Brecon Beacons ensures that this is one of the most popular day trips from Bristol. Characterized by moors, woodlands, mountains, and spectacular gorges, the area is a prime hiking destination – and that’s before you even consider the possibility of spotting a wild pony. The remoteness of the area has earned it a designation as an International Dark Sky Reserve, and parts of it are sometimes used for military training. Visit the national park’s official website to plan your trip and learn more.
