Routes Car Rental at Ottawa Airport

Pros: Can’t reach anybody. Never received an email after many adepts. Didn’t know if I had a car. Only got confirmation 2 hours before my arrival. Very very poor service.

Pros: The price

Cons: We made a reservation (paid in advance) and called to say that our flight was delayed two hours. The company rep said the car might not be available anymore and we will have to wait until we arrive. The courtesy car to pick us up took 25 mins and we were only a 6 minute drive away. The uncertainty about our vehicle was stressful and could have been mitigated by honouring the agreement made, and the courtesy car was a waste of time.

Cons: I had to cancel my reservation but because I couldn't do this within your prescribed time window, I received ZERO money back. I paid for a service I did not receive. When I complained, I was quoted back fine print. To me, this is tantamount to theft. Your service feels more like a scam than a legitimate business. Will never consider you in the future again.

Pros: Car was mostly as advertised. Was a bit stinky and slightly damaged, but manageable. I was told not to drive too far because the oil change was way overdue.

Cons: Getting a car was a mess. I stood in line for over an hour listening to people irate about all sorts of different things. The only staff working the front desk (who started with the company two weeks ago) was understanding and easy to deal with. Took a long time and when I got to the counter they didn't have a car for me. They finally found one that they weren't supposed to lend out due to long overdue oil changes. Lots of customers behind me were not getting cars. Will not book with Routes.

Cons: There was a crack in the windshield they didn't initially mention on the sign out contract and the windshield washer fluid was empty. Picking up the car took a little too long but realize they were fairly busy.

Cons: I rented a compact SUV. After 1 day I had to change it because it had a transmission problem. But this time they don't have any available SUV and I had to get a sedan. In addition to the time waste to change the car, the price difference wasn't refunded to me

Cons: Both at pick up and drop off there were many people waiting and only person behind the counter. At both occasions there were people there to complain about service and they were not dealt with very professionally. This did not instill confidence in the service provided.

Pros: They honored the rental agreement even if they were closing sooner. The schedule of their office is different from the one on discovercard. When I called sooner to confirm the airport pickup at 18:30, they told me they were closed at that time, but managed the stay open and sent someone to pick me up..super friendly staff

Pros: Friendly inspector. The Kia Forte I was assigned was a very nice car, clean and reliable.

Cons: On the way home a truck tire exploded and fragments hit the vehicle, so far I have not heard back from the company with the information I need to file an insurance claim. It's been over a week.

Cons: Discovered the rental location was not at the airport and had to wait 20 minutes in the cold for a shuttle van. Car had a broken signal light. Rental location neglected to return my drivers license (found out after I drove 1.5 hours away - and they didn't want to ship it to me). I received the car when it was snowing hard but the car didn't even have a snow brush or scraper and I had to buy one. Dropping the car off took 30 minutes plus the shuttle back to the airport.

Pros: They auto upgraded my car and I felt very happy.

Cons: Just ask them to keep their cars with gas tank full. Not a major issue though.

Pros: You get what you pay for - we chose low prices and service from vendor was so so. Not a problem.

Location is a bit inconvenient as it's a shuttle ride to/from the airport, but the company handled it fairly efficiency - shuttle bus driver from the airport didn't handle our luggage - didn't even get out of the bus. We had to load everything ourselves.

Cons: There are usually disgruntled people either on the phone or in the office when I arrive. I'm not sure they always provide what they say they will provide, at the price the client expects.

Pros: Usually i have a great car and no issues but this past particular pick up. I returned the vehicle and I did not notice the back of the vehicle had paint completely scrapped off. I have yet to receive a call from the supervisor to sort out the matter its been 5 days

Pros: I was able to contact manager Priya after 3 dAys, she upgraded me to KIA SORENTO which was clean both inside out.

Cons: Downgraded the car, gave KIA smallest car instead of Toyota Corolla. KIA was covered with mud both outside and inside . Agent said that customer just returned the car and they didn’t have time to clean. Agent said that I had to wait another 10 minutes so they can clean the car. They brought out another KIA instead with the same dirtiness as the first one, no difference. Agent advised that was the only car available, no other choice. I could take it or leave it. I had no choice .

Cons: The car was generally clean, but it appeared there was a coffee stain on the seat that should be cleaned. Overall it was fine.

Pros: The fellow that drove me there and back was great! He told me where Tim Hortons and Wendy's was, so I could get a coffee for my journey.

Cons: There was some confusion about where to pick up the ride once I got into the airport. This was exacerbated by the fact that I was VERY tired from the flight. Maybe you could put the pick-up information in large letters on the form, so that it stands out on the page.

Pros: I booked it via discovercarhire for the long weekend but when I was waiting in the airport for a courtesy shuttle, they informed me that they don't have any car left. I had face thousands of problem due to this unprofessional act by ROUTES CAR Rental. I will never go there again and never recommend to anyone.

Cons: I paid online for booking witch charged me twice and once I got there they rented the car I came for right infront of me and said they had no more cars available .. I want my refund back as soon as possible

Pros: The rental site was quite far from the airport so allow for a lot of extra time. Service was fine except they gave me a vehicle with an empty tank. I had to drive all over trying to find a gas station which wasted much more time. Also they did not clean the vehicle from the last renter so it wasn't very clean inside. However if none of this bothers you it's worth saving the extra money.

Pros: Wanted to thank the staff in Ottawa on Sunday afternoon for driving us to airport so we could catch our flight. I wanted to tip them but had no Canadian money left. It would be great if he could be recognized

Cons: The mileage on the form was screwed up. My wife noticed this 200km on the document so at first we though we were really screwed for millage since the form was not that clear it was a daily total but still we ended up getting screwed for mileage in the end. Plus it said 1000 kms difference form what was actually on the vehicle while still in Toronto. so i was peeking it like i am not going to pay for all this extra millage. They corrected the mileage before we left toronto.
