Pros: I like that they stayed open later for us to pick up our vehicle. I was very grateful for that.

Cons: I would never rent from this company again. The experience felt like constant nickel-and-diming. We were repeatedly pressured to pay for extras, including additional insurance, even after showing proof of our own coverage and credit card protection. We were also charged unexpected fees and had to repeatedly point out what was clearly stated in our contract. The entire experience felt stressful and unprofessional

Booked car with unlimited kms only to find out at pick up it would cost more per day to go 1 hour away in to BC from Calgary.. also that the windshield wasn't included in your insurance coverage and was extra per day.. Felt scammed. Shuttle service after drop off was slow, waited over 25 mins.

Cons: Only 1 person doing the bookings with a a cue for services, while at least 3 other people were hanging around, this meant more than 30 minutes wait. I received the keys and had to find the car in the dark while snowing heavily after I went back to ask for assistance.

Cons: It's a general rule with car rental s that you return the car with a full tank. I filled it up only to find that I filled it over 300 km worth of gas than what I received the car with. When I let Routes know this they basically said it was not their problem. So I essentially paid for someone else's gas. I looked back at the terms and it did say fill it to the amount you received it at so that's their disclaimer. This information should be communicated up front and very clearly upon pick up!

Cons: The first car we were given was dirty inside and the rear tire pressure was low at 26 psi vs 35. After waiting an hour to get the car we brought it back. Good thing was we were given another (better) car promptly. Cars should be automatically equipped with snow brushes. We did not have one and needed it.

Not one smile from any employee. Price was right and prepaid with no issues or changes at pickup. Line wasn’t too bad but waiting for actual car delivery took awhile. Drop off is behind the building (which was never explained ahead of time) but was easy. Deposit was refunded as promised.

Pros: Overall very good service. Good car, good value, almost everyone we talked to was very polite. We had to add another driver because the primary driver was quite nervous with the Calgary traffic and the attendee was lovely and very understanding. Returning the car was a breeze as well, though we had to run after the shuttle to get to the airport - it almost left without us.

Cons: We didn’t like the pickup service. We got in at 11:30 along with 5-7 other families. ONE driver came in an SUV that only held 4 people. The driver went around and advised the groups to separate to make it faster - taking the primary drivers with him and leaving the rest of the family to wait. He also only asked the men, ignoring the women present. If they had a bus or used their shuttle, it would’ve been much faster. Also very slow once we got to the location after waiting for 2nd shuttle.

Pros: Nisha, really helped me out when I was picking up the car. Suggested I get the windshield chip insurance and I am very glad I did! Calgary is notorious for windshield chips due to the gravel they use during the winter. I thank her for walking me through the process, and upgrading me to a SUV.

Cons: The service was going well until they tried to bill me for going over my 600km limit. The math was not mathing at all - I drove 457km total. Definitely take a photo of your mileage at PICK UP to ensure you don't get billed for extra stuff like "extra mileage".

They forced my friend, who had added full coverage insurance from Discover Car, to purchase additional insurance and did not even refund the cost for 4 days. Routes evaded responsibility by demanding that Discovery Car return the option that added full coverage to Discovery Car.

Pros: Terrible experience start to finish. Shuttle was slow and over crowded, check in line took 1.5 hours and the customer service was openly hostile and rude. Car had a giant chip in the windshield (that we thankfully took a pic of before leaving) and the inside of the windshield had a white filmy haze, check engine light kept going off. Returned the car and they tried to charge us for the pre existing chip in the windshield. Bad all around.

Pros: We got there on time for my appointment and there was no one waiting in line at the front desk, but we were kept waiting for over 2 hour from the time we arrived until we received our car. I paid everything and was told to wait 10 minutes, but then had to wait over 45 minutes to pick up my car keys.

Cons: The windshield of the arranged car had a large crack, and the interior of the car was not clean. I pointed these things out to them before we left, but they didn't take me up on it at all. When I went to them to return the car on time as promised. However, there was no one at the front desk, and when I called out, no one answered for a while. Moreover when I returned the car, I was told to pay for the repair of the windshield, which was damaged from the beginning.

We continued after doing that & during our trip it kept giving us problems & there are No Routes car Rental in Lake Louise or Jasper so we decided to take to get the car fixed & auto mechanic found a nail in the car, he fixed the Tire & charged us $60

For instance windscreen cover (which Routes specifically offered me, even though I had it) and unlimited mileage (Routes told me 200km per day limit). I feel comms between Discover and Routes should deal with these issues.

When calling the company it gives you the incorrect hours of business which became very inconvenient to me on Saturday, 21 August when I had to get to a funeral On the other side of Calgary.

Cons: Wanted to charge for a chip on the windshield that was not from our trip. I had to ask them to go back and see previous inspection videos to confirm if that was the case. Upon checking they were able to confirm that it was from a previous trip! If I wouldn't have challenged, I would now be paying for the damage caused by someone else!

Cons: When a truck was picking everyone up, we mentioned that we booked our car through discovercars which we thought was the name of the company and the car driver advised use to keep waiting. so we called a few more times for a pick up and it ultimately took around 45 minutes. Surely in the future a driver could confirm that info as I can't be the only one who made this mistake.

Cons: Unclear Hours of operation. Website shows pick up until 8 however the last shuttle from the airport is at 7:30. The desk clerk tried selling the additional windshield insurance coverage but when we went to the car the windshield already had a massive crack across the whole thing and several large chips. The vehicle also had several warnings on the dashboard including low tire pressure and oil change required. Tires also were not appropriate for driving in snow.

Pros: We received a free upgrade for our trip from Calgary to Vancouver. Realize that the prices are better because they are not at the airport. The shuttles were good. Realize they are very busy.

Cons: The drop-off was area was scattered with trash. The area was cramped to find a place to park. Not enough service people to help and took a while to check out. They were having a bad day with a few vocal angry people because of the inefficiency. Also found that one Routes is not tied to another so if you have a problem you have to deal with the original franchise. That makes for poor customer service.

Cons: Key drop-box could have been more obvious for dropping off car outside of office hours

Cons: I believe there was a chip in the windshield before we picked up the car but I didn't notice it. And then we got charged for it.

Cons: I requested a small economy car. There were none available so I had to upgrade to a small SUV and I seemed to have to pay more in gas, which I had not budgeted.

Pros: Very nice team at Routes in Calgary. They gave us valuable information and were very kind.

Cons: We didn't get the class of car that was booked, which is okay since it was an upgrade. However, the car had a cracked and chipped windscreen, and there was an oil change required message that I noticed when I already drove off to far to come back.

Cons: A minor detail: you should have bottles of water, even if you were to sell them especially when we arrive late in the evening and still have a long drive.

Cons: There was no indication the location was closed early and would not be open upon arrvival. this was a major problem for our planning and the office was completely inflexible with our rental agreement despite this issue.

Pros: Pick up and drop off was easy. Pick up the car was dirty. Advised to buy wind sheild insurance coverage for potential chips which i did purchase. Noticed chips already and agent said it was ok but if course when i returned it the agent was going ti charge me for chips in the wind sheild.

Cons: Agents were nit friendly and knowledgeable. They just wanted to up sell try to get you to soend more. I will definitely not use routes car rentals again. Brutal customer service and my expectations are not high. I just want the car i paid fir and the same price

Cons: There was no ice or snow brush in the truck... during winter. We had to use our hands to wipe snow. It took 30 minutes from the time I called to get a shuttle for t to arrive, this was considerably longer than expected.

Pros: They were nice enough to credit me for the problems on the car. (No mud flaps on the Jeep Wrangler = got pulled over by cops on the highway, Cracked windshield = broke even more during the week, Oil change overdue of 7000KM = check engine light popped during my last drive and lost all power while driving on the highway.) Staff was really nice both at pick-up and drop-off. I was just concerned with the lack of maintenance done on the car I got....

Cons: The car was probably cleaned without attention to detail. There was food stuck in seats, previous valet parking tickets in the trunk. They also noticed that there was a crack in the windshield when they gave me the car and did not propose to change the vehicle even after I asked. The crack eventually worsened a lot after the first-hour driving and stressed me the whole week even if they said they would not charge me. I was concerned for my own safety.

Pros: The car was clean and ran well.

Cons: It was unclear that the rental was done through Routes so we missed the first shuttle. The rental agents tried to give us a "free upgrade" to a worse car than we had asked for. I refused and we got the car we wanted, but it was still a pressured situation for us to take the other car. Discover sold us insurance online, but it didn't cover collision, so we had to purchase more insurance at the desk. The vehicle didn't come with snow tires. IT'S WINTER IN CALGARY.

Cons: Tank was given to me empty and when I brought the car back with 3/4 of a tank I was not compensated. Also was given a lower model than I requested and was not refunded the difference. Not pleased about that.

Cons: I had to extend my rental period and had to call 3 times to get an extension. It was very difficult to get the right person to help me extend by rental contract.

Pros: Above and beyond service! Stayed open after my flight was late, picked my wife and I up, and delivered an upgrade. WOW!

Cons: The car exterior was dirty and difficult to examine in the dark. Either better lighting should be provided or the car inspection should be done inside a garage where there is better lighting.

Pros: Definitely cost. Not a brand new vehicle, so not an expectation on either side for treating it like it was made of glass. Waived the windshield rider because it was already chipped. No argument / hard-sell when I refused extra insurance (my Credit Card covers this).

Cons: They didn't have the type of vehicle I had requested (small size) but provided me with a larger vehicle instead which was fine. This vehicle was quite dirty, both on the inside and outside. The inside had visible dirt and mud on the side of the door, stains on the seats and an odd odour.
