MEX RENT A CAR at Merida Airport

Pros: Staff was very friendly and courteous

Cons: I was charged way more than what I was quoted online but it 1:00 in the morning I was not interested in arguing over it the car only had a quarter tank of fuel and one of the tires was low on air

Pros: check out process was easy

Cons: Rental Rep not waiting at airport exit as promised. I had to search representative for instructions on where to meet shuttle. Upon arrival, there were 2 representatives and no organization to lines. Thus, I waited in one line while others arrived, waited in another line and after 2 hours of waiting, finally attended to by rental rep. Then it became worse... as the coverage for collision/ theft much higher than previously quoted and additional fees costing up to $550. Beware!

Cons: I felt as if the people at Max rent a car were very inefficient and not helpful. They did not have the vehicle available that we were renting, and had nothing similar and as I stated previously tried to have us taken another vehicle at an extremely increase cost.

Pros: I will never rent with you or MxRentAcar again. when I picked up the car they told me that the price was different because car insurance is not included in your contract and they are not responsible for your insurance. I had to pay double for a smaller vehicle with flat tires, all scratched and front windows broken in three places. the money I paid to you the agency says is for simple intermediation.

Pros: They did not return out $89 deposit, so we are getting VISA to reverse that

Pros: Juliette was amazing. Super friendly, knowledgeable, efficient, and helpful, are just a few words to desc one her.

Cons: Nothing.

Pros: As our flight was delayed, MEX cancelled our booking with no refund even though we informed them of our updated flight. Which is most unethical and cheated us of our money.

Cons: Awful experience. When we arrived, the mex company made us pay a looot of hidden fees. We ended up paying 500€ instead of 200 € as it was announced. Their excuse was that as we rented the car in discovery page, we should see with you the details and everything that we paid with you (insurrance etc..) was not valid for them and we needed to pay it again. This is the last time im renting a car with Mex company or Discovery cars.

Pros: It took 4 days for us to receive the car we asked for when we made the booking 5 weeks ahead of our trip. The first car was not in good condition and had offset steering. The second car (the one we originally requested upon booking) was much more acceptable and a great rental. Unfortunately, we received it more than half way through our trip, and have yet to receive a refund from Discover Cars for the discrepancy.

Pros: Good value. Very close to airport.

Cons: Receptionist was rude and it took a long time to get the car.

Pros: Once we figured everything out and got over the cost shock, the service was pretty good.

Cons: Unclear instructions and inflated costs for insurance.

Pros: Muy caro y me parece un robó lo que hace Discover Cars, ya que el pago que está compañía me hizo ni siquiera entra en el cobro de la renta del auto.

Cons: Solo espero que me rembolse mi deposito de $1500.00 a mi tarjeta de crédito.

Pros: Was close to airport

Cons: Car was beat up, dirty, no washer fluid and only came with 1/2 tank gas.

Pros: Shuttle driver was good

Cons: Didn't honor reservation and upcharged for bigger car when they didn't have the one we reserved. Two hour wait and there was only one person in line in front of us! I had already given all my info when reserving, still took them an hour to put it all in again!

Pros: The driver who picked me up to take me to the place was nice.

Cons: She said to me that since they didn’t open until 6 and I had to leave the key under the mat at the gate that I would have to buy full coverage and my coverage already paid was not valid. There was no place to drop off key. I had to risk leaving it under the mat.

Cons: They refused to honor price in my booking, insisting $0 had been paid in advance - and Discover Cars was stealing my pre-payment as a 'commission'. Regarding rental price, they said it was not right, I would have to pay over 3x the amount in my Discover confirmation. After much arguing, and their threats to not give me a car, I agreed to pay $253.10USD but they actually charged $294.29. So I am now out $336.58 (inc. pre-payment) for a rental that was supposed to cost $136.72 per your booking.

Pros: These people will nickel and dime you, watch out.

Cons: I didn’t like that we were charged as much as we were. A local said, rental car companies do this all over Mexico. Be ready to pay.

Pros: The process was quick and simple

Pros: nothing, they asked me to deliver the car very clean or a fee for 600 pesos would of be charged

Cons: Everything starting with the nasty attitude of the front desk lady, the car was ok, but I had to clean it up before delivery, and it had no carpets.

Pros: The agent at the airport was helpful since the "uniformed agent with a sign" described in the pickup instructions from DiscoverCars.com did not exist.

Cons: They only had one agent and a line, so it took a while to pick up the car.

Pros: Nothing

Cons: They charged us $4800 to rent a car for one month. Hidden fees. Total scam.

Pros: They initially gave me a car with mechanical problems, I brought it up with the agent and she quickly replaced it.

Cons: I didn't like that my first car had mechanical problems. That the mechanics (not the agent) were patronizing me. They assumed that I was the problem and not the car and kept explaining things that were obviously not the issue. For example, they kept insisting that I didn't know how to use a parking break. While they went for a test drive, I spoke with the agent. Told her I never wanted to speak with any of those mechanics again and to please replace the vehicle they provided.

Pros: Smith transition despite lanquge differences

Cons: They have fees in excess of $500 that appear AFTER you select you car for $41 a day. Not including the insurance. If you tell them that something is wrong, they have a "take it or leave it" attitude. They will give you a ridiculous sense of urgency to attempt to rush you to make a decision. When you call HQ to inquire, "HQ" will tell you that there is nothing that they can do, the individual offices can make changes while the office will tell you the opposite, WORSE EXER!!

Pros: Very good friendly customer service. We felt comfortable trusting the advice Felipe gave us. The rental process was efficient.

Cons: There is nothing we didn’t like

Pros: We were successful in getting a good quality vehicle in an efficient way

Cons: The service is effectively useless for determining the cost of the vehicle since it reflects only the base rental cost, which is a fraction of the total rental price. I will search directly with car rental agencies ongoing.

Pros: Mex was fine. Car was dinged up but they didn't hide it

Cons: Charging me a big amount at picking up while it says 0 payment at picking up on the reservation confirmation

Pros: We had a problem with the first car we were given but returned and they changed it straight away. Car had a few marks but was generally very good.

Cons: It felt a little like we might have some trouble when handing the car back (influenced by other reviews) but this wasn't the case, so no issues for us.
