Pros: Some reps spoke English. The car itself is cheap, though after all the hidden costs we spent just as much as would have at a mainstream brand.

Pros: And we experienced bad service, as the staff were not pleasant and accommodating, one of them were quite rude. We paid a little fee for a damage which was fine, but the process during this were awkward - because they couldn't account for what exactly we paid for, instead they wrote a number on a piece of paper only that we would pay.

Cons: The staff couldnt speak english that well, so this becamed a problem. Bad service, which just resulted in anxiety. So the experience of all this affected the trip we had in Yucatan...

Pros: The store is convenient to the airport. Not walking distance, but just a couple blocks away.

Cons: The idea of handing a returning customer a junker car, like I was given, is DISRESPECTFUL. I will likely never return to America Car Rental again.

Cons: they missed something in the inspection and didnt mark it after I pointed it out. I had videos and images prior to possession however. Wasnt charged, but make sure both parties check and document!

Cons: Our flight was delayed on way back from Mexico, and the extra amount cost in excess of $800 for 2 days, despite having emailed and called the company multiple times to no reply. No understanding or help with returning the car.

Pros: Cheap cars near the airport.

Cons: I hated how my rental experience began. Though I pre-purchased “insurance” through Discover Cars before my trip, America Car Rentals would not accept my payment for this insurance. I was forced to purchase NEW insurance through American Car Rental of Merida, and told to request a refund from Discover Cars Rentals because, they told me my credit card was not working. But it worked fine to buy their insurance. And instead of a refund for my money spent with Discover Cars, I’m forced into a credit.

Pros: My review isn’t about America car rental, but discover cars itself. Avoid at all Costs. Ive been scammed by them. When I arrived at the airport and contacted America for my rental, it turns out Discovercars never set up my rental with them at all. I had no car available for me and was stranded at the airport. Discovercars customer support is non-existent. You can’t get them on the phone. It’s been weeks and even after contacting them by email my issue hasn’t been resolved.

Pros: Nothing, they are misleading people to get them stuck at their counter and increase the pricing substantially, when you may not have other option. I ended up paying more, but I was glad it was to a reputable company (Alamo). I rather pay Alamo than to a deceiving company.

Cons: I did not like anything about them.

A Young driver fee is not applied.

Maximum rental age is 99 years.
A Senior driver fee is not applied.

The driver license must have been issued by authorized authorities at least 1 year(s) before the date of the commencement of the rental.

The driver license must be written in Latin, English alphabet.
Otherwise, the renter must provide an International Driver Permit (IDP).
Please note that the International Driving Permit is valid only if accompanied by the regular driver license.

In order to pick up the car, the following documents are required: passport, valid driver license, credit card on a main drivers name, flight information.

Only physical driver's licenses are accepted (not digital versions).
Renters from the following country(ies): United Kingdom must provide the following documents: ID with photo in order to collect the car.
Fuel policy
The vehicle is provided with a certain amount of fuel and must be returned with the same amount in order to avoid additional charges.
Business hours
Period of time, during regular working hours, when the car is still guaranteed for the customer, if the customer is late for pick up (the grace period) is 120 minutes.
