Pros: The staff at EastCoast Car Rentals were friendly, efficient, and helpful throughout the process. The free shuttle from and to Darwin Airport worked smoothly, and the car pickup was quick and well-organized. We were pleasantly surprised to receive a free upgrade from a Toyota RAV4 to an Isuzu MU-X, which was spacious, comfortable, and in excellent condition. Overall, the service was professional and hassle-free.
Cons: However, one aspect that downgraded our experience was the Northern Territory driving restrictions (see attached notice). The policy bans driving outside towns between sunset and sunrise and restricts access to major routes like Jim Jim Falls, Twin Falls, and the Lost City, as well as all unsealed roads. These limitations were not clearly stated during booking and were only mentioned at pickup. The AUD 1,000 security deposit also seems quite high compared to other companies.

Fuel policy
The vehicle is provided with a full tank of fuel and must be returned with the same amount in order to avoid additional charges.
Electric vehicles must be returned with the same battery charge they had when picked up to avoid additional charges (on a per kWh basis). An additional admin fee will be charged if a vehicle is returned with less than 20 % battery charge remaining.
