Drivalia at Birmingham Airport

Pros: Last three questions N/A as didn’t pick up car.

Cons: They would not allow me to hire the car as my credit card in maiden name and driving licence in married name, despite me having marriage certificate with me. I am the same person. This is discrimination. I am extremely annoyed. I wasted an hour sorting out an alternative car, which cost me more than three times the amount of my original booking.

Pros: They eventually upgraded the car

Cons: When arrived no car available, no one picked us up had to wait 4hours for a car to arrive 😡

Cons: I pre registered with all my details but shill had to wait 30 minutes to be served at the desk. Time actually at the desk was just 5 minutes. Should have an automated check in to avoid unnecessary waiting

Pros: the rental price was very reasonable as i was going on holiday and needed a car as my car broke that day

Cons: the member of staff on the hire desk was very rude and had a bad attitude. he told me that i would need the additional insurance, when i told him i had purchased online he then said that any damages they would be keeping my deposit an i would have to take up with the third party. the car that he gave me was damaged all over and none of it had been recorded.

On arrival to the rental desk, we were told this insurance was not with them and if we had a claim they would be difficult to get money back from. He then pitched me their insurance and said I could claim back from the other company. He withheld details from me on insurance packages until I questioned him for a long time. Cons: When we picked the car up in Birmingham at 11:3o at night we both notified a fairly strong air freshener/fabric freshener smell: odd but we figured someone had gone over the top on the stuff. Next day the car was in the sun for a couple of hours. On opening the car we were engulfed in a reek of vomit. Clearly the previous renter had thrown up in the car. It was unbearable unless the windows were open.

Pros: No one for “meet and greet”, had to call them even though I gave exact time and flight details. No signage.

Cons: It’s not professional to ask someone to sign without inspecting the car first and then when they do not noting the dents and pretending you have and getting customer to sign. Worse on drop off, bunch of guys sitting round, not willing to give a signature to say can was given back in order. I was told I could have to wait 2 hours for an email confirming same (thankfully I got it straight a at) but stressful and misleading info for no reason. Not reassuring, despite that I trying to be friendly

Cons: Not friendly staff, very scary staff. Also doesn’t provide any paperwork on the rental. No receipt or anything. They don’t accept 3rd part insurance, I had to pay another full insurance coverage with them. The car rental costing is expected as view on line

Pros: Pick up was really smooth, being off site meant that I just walked into the office (5 mins from airport) and was out, with my car, in less than 15 minutes. Office staff and driver on pick were super friendly and helpful.

Cons: Return drop off staff were surly and not so helpful but that said, the car was checked, signed off and i was back at the airport in less than 15 minutes

Pros: Very quick and easy on arrival. The Instructoons given yo meet the minibus were clear and very responsive. The collection and drop off took no longer than 10 minutes. The paperwork and quality of service on arrival was perfect and I was given a 2024 car in perfect condition and loved it!

Cons: Was asked questions about my trip which I didn't feel were relevant to car hire. E.g. how much were my flight tickets.

Pros: Nothing at all, very poor service, car was not even road safe surprised it was given to me without any checks handbrake traveled to High and when you released it the shoes on the back make loud bangs!

Cons: Car collection threw up a total new bill then what was advertised online, had to pay much more! Was told the car is outside walked around like an idiot whilst the staff watched on eventually got told by the valeting person that the car is inside right at the back! No staff came out to the car with me and no walk or pre check was done around the car! The car had a service light on stating overdue service by 250 miles! The car was pulling a lot to the right clearly needs alignment or tracking!

Pros: I was charged for using a debit card instead of a credit card. Also, staff tried to push a bigger vehicle arguing that my luggage would not fit (after I informed them twice that I had used that model before)

Cons: They didn't respect the quoted price (only a £4 discrepancy but a very shady practice nevertheless). They had some kind of electronic spying device bolted to the windscreen and they refused to tell us what it was even when an email was sent with a photograph. The car had a serious and most audible brake defect (badly worn brake pads) which we reported first by phone to their breakdown service and got fobbed off, then by phone to them and got fobbed off again, then our email was ignored.

Pros: Zee on reception was very kind and accomodating. He made the paper work process very straight forward and I will definitely be using the rental services again. My deposit came back the very same day of delivering the car back.

Cons: The airport pick up driver wasn't overly friendly, nor did he help load my suitcase onto the van.

Cons: At the end of the trip additional charges were applied that were not explained when we took the car. Car turned out to be smaller than what we had booked. Overall not a good experience.

Pros: Drivalia did not answer the phone multiple times when I tried calling for collection so I never got to rent the car, I lost my deposit and I had to pay twice as much as I would to rent a car from a different rental company for an available car than I would have if I had the opportunity to book online in advance

Pros: Poor communication for shuttle Pick up, poor response to phone calls. Extremely slow and poor response to questions on lost passport and extending car hire period.

Pros: On the day of my reservation my flight was delayed and when we arrived at the agency the employee treated us very poorly. He started by saying in a very bad way that it was late and he couldn't help me. When we explained to him that the flight had been delayed, he with his very bad manner decided to assist us. Then the last straw was that he told me that, since it was already two hours past my reservation time, the car he had reserved was no longer there.

Cons: Bad, very bad

Pros: The whole process was very quick, friendly, efficient and ran very smoothly. On collection I photographed the few scratches on the bumpers and rims, as advised by the agent. On return the car was inspected immediately, the returns form was signed and I was in the shuttle bus within minutes. The deposit reservation was automatically cancelled from my credit card and did not even appear on my statement.

Cons: I was not aware of the £1500 deposit although it was probably written somewhere but certainly didn’t see it on line

Pros: They offered us a free shuttle van over to the airport or train station. The agents were nice, although were a bit overwhelmed and understaffed at time of check in. The 100 miles per day limit is a bit ridiculous for the amount paid per day, and therefore the next time, I would probably rent with one of the competitor's who offered unlimited mileage.

Cons: One thing was a requirement to show a return airplane ticket, even though we were just picking up a car to use locally and are in the country for possibly 6 months. We do not know yet when we will leave, and did not arrive that day at the airport.

Cons: for a small scratch on the rim, the charge for a new rim is ridiculous. also lesson learnt is to check the car thoroughly and take photos than to rely and depend on the agent checking the car for you.

Pros: The Birmingham team were brilliant! Explained things well and understanding.

Cons: The picking up and dropping off process was really unprofessional. For the picking up, the rental person suggested we pay more and receive a hybrid car rather than an electrical one. But, the vehicle was not a hybrid and the tank was not full. The drop-off was even harder. The computer at the rental office didn't work and I had to wait for more than half an hour and finally, I agreed to fill out a form and allow them to check the car later and send me the documents but haven't sent yet.

Cons: The car was not road worthy, it should not of been hired out. The rear light was broken I only noticed when I got to my destination, lucky I had taken pictures of the car at the hire centre when picking up so I can prove it was already done. Car wasn’t clean inside, absolutely awful. I could not find any staff in Birmingham as I was collecting from out the back of a shed?? Only a Tyre guy but he didn’t work for you. I had to leave as my family where waiting at the airport.

Pros: Excellent service with pick up at the airport. Also very quick on return and delivered back to the airport very promptly. The staff were really good.

Cons: The fact that when we received the car there was no indication that there’s a dent on the back right door and it was given to us as if it was flawless. At the time of return the guy tried to pin the dent on us, luckily we were smart enough to record the whole exterior of the car which was beneficial to be used as proof. They tried their best to con us but you can’t outsmart a ”Smart-Ass”. Cheers!
