Budget at Knock Airport

Pros: Car had 113500kms on the clock. Cruise control didn’t work and kept getting all sorts of alarms going off on the dashboard every time you started the car. Would never use Avis / Budget again in Ireland.

Pros: Rent cars multiple times a year. Budget is best and they are honest. After Europa tried to pin historic damage on me clearly a set up I always use Budget.

Cons: The agent was really helpful. The whole process quick and easy.

Cons: The car was very tricky to find in an open, untarmacked carpark - not great for lugging a heavy suitcase. When the car was found, it was filthy. Dirty bodywork I can live with, but the windows and mirrors were dangerously dirty so I had to clean them myself. Later on that day, I found a french fry by the drivers' seat. Unimpressive, to say the least.

Although I was told I’d get this back if I returned the car in good order. It’s not the point what if I didn’t have it? I was also waiting 30 minutes in a queue with only one person in front of me

Cons: When we handed the car back there was a man in the hut in the car park who couldn’t have cared less about us being there. He was sat in the corner on a sofa and couldn’t be bothered to come to the desk to talk to us. I tried to explain to him that the speedometer was set to miles an hour (mph) and that it really ought to be set on kilometres but he just said that an email would be sent to us. He was the one thing that let your company down.

The steering was awful..it had obviously been in a crash and needed a big service .all the passengers side was dented and damaged. It was unsafe..it should not have been given out for rental.

The rental amount and holding amount need to be the same card and this wasn’t clear. Others having same issue and were forced to take out 30EUR a day insurance.

Pros: The staff service and support, from start to finish was excellent. The only issue we had was the car we were given initially - a Dacia Stepway - it was dreadful! After 2 days of driving we returned it to Knock airport and the staff willingly changed it for us - we were delighted.

Cons: The car was clean but for a big hole in the carpet making it uncomfortable to drive. There was a problem with the offside front daytime during light. There was a problem with the bonnet not shutting property and the drivers side rear tyre needed inflating. Fortunately I was close to Ballygar so I could get the tyre inflated. Quite the worst car I have ever got from Budget where the company name was appropriate to the quality of the car but not the price I paid for it. There is more to say….

Pros: The guy who served us was fantastic! We'd had a long day due to difficulties at Stanstead and were very tired, but the budget staff member was friendly, empathetic, interested and gave us lots of support.

Cons: When I tried to return the car at Knock there was no one in the office where we collected it. Just a sign to put the keys in a post box. So I went in to the terminal but the desk was unmanned. Another customer was waiting to collect a car. Eventually someone turned up but no one checked the car for fuel or damage. I thought this was rather unprofessional.

Cons: I didn't like the car condition: dirty, two tires different from the others, convergence uncalibrated, no caps tires, wipers comsumed.

Cons: It was not made clear at time of comparison/before booking that a debit card is unsuitable, that a deposit is taken for a full tank of petrol etc. I was travelling with only one debit card and had budgeted strictly and so this really had a negative knock-on effect on the rest of my trip as my only option was to take out daily insurance which is charged at a higher daily rate than it would have been to purchase in advance online. The booking is also misleading as I didn't receive the car I chose.

We received no refund!
