Location

Northern Nicosia Airport is about 20 km (12.4 mi) southeast of Northern Nicosia or Lefkosa, and about 40 km (24.8 mi) from Kyrenia or Girne. Ercan Havaalanı Yolu, Gazimağusa-Lefkoşa Anayolu, Dr. Fazıl Küçük Bulvarı, and Şehit Mustafa Ahmet Ruso Caddesi are the main streets connecting the airport to the city. Northern Cyprus is a de facto independent state, albeit only recognized by Turkey. The Republic of Cyprus - the southern, Greek-speaking part of the island - considers Northern Cyprus to be a part of its territory. Despite the political dispute, the border between Northern Cyprus and the Republic of Cyprus is open for visitors to cross. However, car rental companies in Northern Cyprus do not permit crossing the border with a rental car. Most travelers who wish to visit Northern Cyprus first and the Republic of Cyprus later, pick up and later drop off a rental car in Northern Cyprus, then pick up a new rental car after crossing the border. There are many car rental companies in the Greek-speaking part of Nicosia as well as in the rest of the Republic of Cyprus.

You’ll find quite a few shops, including a convenience store and three duty-free outlets, two in the departures area and one in the arrivals area. There are a couple of snack bars, as well as other eateries and Turkish coffee shops. You’ll also find several ATMs, a bank, a lounge, baby changing facilities, an airport medical clinic, and a prayer room. Special assistance is available for passengers with reduced mobility, but make sure to contact your airline in advance if you’d like this service.

Nearest gas station

Balikesir Oil, located on the right side of Ercan Havaalanı Yolu when heading to North Nicosia from the airport, can be reached in about six minutes. There are many other airports on the way to North Nicosia and in Northern Cyprus.
