On arrival at the airport we called the company and were collected by a lovely lady then driven to a Car Wash site just outside the Airport from there after completing the paper work We drove up the east coast to the solana beach hotel the drive there was good as the roads are excellent (recommend a sat nav ) road signage is not brilliant, excellent value for money with the car ,very economical

Driving in Mauritius is not for the nervous driver. If you are used to big town driving you will be fine. Dogs roam the streets everywhere and if you stick to the speed limit be prepared to be overtaken anywhere ( they normally beep the horn as they overtake as a warning of their intent.)

We went to Mauritius to attend a Mauritian family wedding, & sadly didn't have much time to do sight-seeing. We stayed in the north (Pereybere) which we absolutely love. We did manage to do a boat trip to Ile Plate (from Grand Baie) which was fantastic as always. As ever, the driving in Mauritius is sometimes a bit hair-raising, but I'm used to that! Definitely don't recommend driving at night though. The roads have changed a bit since I was last there in 2015 with lots of bypasses, so the routes have changed & for that reason I probably should have had satnav.
