Thrifty at San Francisco Airport

Pros: Entire process from start to finish was very crisp and smooth.

Cons: My flight was cancelled and I called Thrifty and told them what happened. I was told I could pick it up next day. I DIDN'T expect a refund or anything but they made me pay USD 300 more to get an even lower class car. They told me they hold the car for 6 hours and then rent it out even though I already paid for 5 days. So I ended up paying almost CAD 1,000 for 4 days for a sedan.

Pros: Quick and easy at a good price

Pros: Good car. Clean and new.

Cons: Agent mentioned that was necessary easy tag car for states you have visited but that is not true for Washington state. By the way, so far we don´t how to pay.

Pros: Practical, great service, great car for my needs.

Cons: The agent did not explain everything and there is no transparency when getting and returning the car.I received the contract by email on the second day of renting and there is no record of what injuries and faults the car has. When I returned the car I was told that I would get a confirmation mail in 15 minutes, but I did not. You just leave the car and go and you do not know if everything is OK. I had to visit the office at the Car rental centre at the airport to check if everything is OK

Pros: Hard to get hold of when service light came on, faq on website did not include any information about non emergency issues, car electric door operation failed after service light came on.

Pros: Agents are very friendly and helpful.

Cons: Late night service needs more than one agent.

Cons: The charges were more then double of the advertised price. Either a problem comes from your site or from Thrifty. Either was, we will try to stay away from reserving with Thrifty and on your site. As many times as we travel, this happed to us for the first time.

Cons: The Rental Counter experience was not easy...too few staff at the counter at Thrifty. Too long of a line waiting for their cars.

Pros: They were closed at pick up and the Davis agent next door said they left awhile ago. Had to rent with them cause only 3 places open and the rate was closest but still 150 more than I was quoted with this rate. Why take a 1 am reservation if you close at midnight.

Pros: Customer service was great, especially Douglas that helped us when we got there. Highly recommend

Pros: No service at all was provided by Thrifty at the pickup location or at drop off location.

Cons: on my booking voucher given by Discover car it was written rental desk is located in the arrival hall which was incorrect and I had to make ISD call from my mobile to understand the office location at SFO airport.

Cons: I loved the idea of being able to check in ahead of time and uploaded my license and credit card, but there was no notification when I arrived of where to get the car. I had to still go through the whole process at the counter.

Pros: Car had clearly been rented to a smoker. Had to drive with windows down entire weekend or I would have allergic reaction to residual cigarette smoke in car. Absolutely terrible.

Cons: You shouldn’t rent cars that have been smoked in.

Cons: agent emphasized the car break ins, and advised not to leave anything in the car, even our backpack, said especially at the tourist spots, people will even break in the car for "chips", well even if this may have happened in the past, its not classy to paint a bad picture for us tourists who want to enjoy San Francisco. We did not observe anything close to this as we toured Chinatown, Lombard St, the Golden Gate Viewpoints, Pier 39. We still had a great time and enjoyed the City by the Bay.

Cons: Push to use on-line checkin - requires exposing my digital ID. In persona checking line was 45 minutes long.

Pros: There was a line 3 miles long. Stood for over an hour. 1 person was handling counter. There were not enough cars for demand. People were walking away to find other car rentals. We did as well because I had elderly parents standing outside on the curb with all our luggage. We did not get car from you all. Sorry but I have a picture which shows the mayhem.

Cons: No cars. And only 1 person working counter with about 50 people in line for cars

Pros: Overcharged me gave me the collision damage, waiver, and other insurance when I specifically said, I did not want it

Cons: When arrived at the Thrifty desks to pick up my reserved car there was a waiting line for over an hour. Then when we were finally at the front desk they told me they are out of cars and there will be a other wait for at least 1 hr. I think approx. 40 other people that where also waiting in line also didn't had a car. No way they could have solved this within a Hour. At this point we had to rent a car of s other rental service. Thrifty don't care about their costumers and didn't offer any kind of

Pros: Most desk staff tried, but they were in an impossible position.

Cons: Made reservation and paid 4 month before trip. It was advertised that rental counter was in"in terminal", but turns out to be separate terminal for rental cars, and that involved hauling all luggage on a 15 min tram ride. There was a long line (about 50 people), with no advantage to prepaids / reservations over walk ups. No cars were ready, and we had to wait three hours. When we were directed to our car, it was in the Hertz lot (not a problem, just odd). Totally messed up 1st day of our trip!

Cons: I paid for a car from 3:30pm. Whether my flight is on time or not - I expect to be able to pick my car up at 3:30. The wait time was a DISGRACE. Having to wait two hours after flying across the Atlantic for a car you’ve booked and paid for is nothing short of shambolic. Charging people huge sums of money when you can’t fulfil your obligations is abhorrent behaviour and needs to be stopped immediately. I’ve never heard of it before. Utterly disgusting practice.

Pros: The representative at the airport was extremely unprofessional, taking 5 minutes to explain how he’d made hundreds of thousands in the 2008 real estate crash. Followed by explaining to us how the next crash will be bigger than the last one. This aggravating rendition was then followed by consistent up selling, which I consistently replied please just give me what i’ve paid for… somehow (after a 10 hour flight) I was successfully upsold what I had been told was a better deal. It wasn’t.

Cons: Dreadful all round. I suppose the car worked.
