You will pick up your rental car at the Sixt branch, which is located in the car rentals hall. After arriving, please turn to the the parking garage located opposite to the terminal of the airport. Please follow the signs pointing to the car rentals.
Drop-off instructions
Follow the signs to Salzburg Airport and proceed to the rear of the car park at "rental car return". Please park your rental car at a parking place marked "Sixt". Please hand in the key on the ground floor at the Sixt counter.

Pros: No positive words, took several hours to arrange a recovery truck and we were stuck on a narrow road with lots of traffic
Cons: Slow recovery service, unable to offer 4wd SUV replacement. Was told there was a cross border charge Austria- west Germany. At the desk I queried this and was told the charge would be removed. Dashboard maintenance spanner was in warning mode. Advised by the desk that the vehicles are not kept long and the maintenance spanner eluminated on the dashboard was irrelevent. Desk was not interested in understanding our claim for the taxi fare( the recovery truck dropped up off at a railway station)

Free cancellation with a full refund up to 48 hours before your pick-up time, Unlimited mileage, Loss Damage Waiver (damage deductible: € 950.00), Winter tires, Contract fee, Third Party Liability (TPL), Premium Location fee, Road tax, Free modifications, State Tax.
Driver requirements
Minimum rental age is 18 years.
A young driver fee applies to drivers under the age of 25.
There is no maximum age.
A Senior driver fee is not applied.
The driver license must have been issued by authorized authorities at least 1 year(s) before the date of the commencement of the rental.

For vehicles in groups Economy, Compact, Standard, Intermediate, Minivan, Fullsize a driver license issued at least 2 years ago is required.

Driver licenses from non-EU countries (except Switzerland) are accepted if no visa has been entered in the passport.
All non-EU residents staying in the EU for longer than 6 months must present a driving licence from an EU country.
Licences issued in Cameroon, China, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Kosovo, Libya, Nepal, Nicaragua, Sudan, Tanzania, Yemen, Afganistan, Indonesia, Bolivia, Tonga, Solomon Islands, Somalia, Burundi, Taiwan are not accepted.
A driver license printed using a non-Roman alphabet (Arabic, Japanese, Cyrillic, etc) must be supplemented by an International Driving Permit.
Please note that the International Driving Permit is valid only if accompanied by the regular driver license. For driver licenses from countries not party to the International Driving Permit treaty, an official translation of the license must be presented with the original license.
Learner's permits are not accepted; a full driver's license is required.
Only physical driver's licenses are accepted (not digital versions).

By law, winter tires are mandatory on all roads from 01.11 to 15.04. Snow chains are recommended in icy/snowy conditions, especially when traveling in mountainous areas.
