Pros: I liked that I could drop off the car at a different location than picking it up. The car was the type we requested.

Cons: The pick up was strange—it was in a strange location, then no one was there to assist at our pick up time, that is, the person was late. Then, in terms of dropping it off, we had to pay $50 extra to drop it off outside hours, even though all that required was parking it next to the office and dropping off the car—should not have costed that much extra. Furthermore, they did not have enough spots to park the car when dropping it off outside hours as we were told beforehand.

Pros: Drop off experience was amazing but pick up was slow and the man was late

Pros: Agent briefing was thorough and included full photos of the vehicle.

Cons: Initially had some concerns about the legitimacy of the business (odd reviews, location) but our experience was excellent. We didn't have any issues like breakdown or accident damage so can't comment on how they respond. We don't hire vehicles often but the process was in line with our last hire through one of the big companies. The drop off location at Auckland Airport requires a shuttle bus connection so allow enough time (30-40mins). This lack of convenience is reflected in the price.

Pros: The car ran fine, good gas mileage and the price was very reasonable.

Cons: The instructions for pickup were misguided. They said to get there 2 hours in advance of pickup but the place was closed and I had to wait an hour before I could get in touch with someone to come down to the railway station and give me the car.

Pros: Easy online process, collection and reliability of the car which I also requested. Friendly staff and easy to locate.

Cons: Used them twice now with no negative feedback to leave

Cons: Nothing. If you want a shiny new car that will cost you more then hit one of the big chains. Looking to save a $ then Mode Cars should work for you.

Pros: We had some issues with our credit cards, but they were very patient letting us get it fixed. We even picked up and dropped off the car prior to the times provided by us - no issues.

Pros: Pretty efficient pickup and drop off plus shuttle to terminal - Auckland. Car was decent to drive though I wasn't expecting automatic and I'm pretty sure I booked a manual! But still, no problems with it.

Cons: No back shelf on car boot so all our luggage was visible at all times. Satnav was a bit temperamental too, got confused at times!

Pros: Mode cars made it easy to rent the car, the collection was straight forward. Now familiar with the process, I appreciated that pretty much all the admin could be done online. The staff at mode cars were helpful and friendly. The car was clean, comfortable and safe - I was very pleased with traveling in the car. The vehicle was modern and up to spec which made for a better driving experience.

Cons: I decided to return the rental a day early and I didn't like that I couldn't gain a partial refund for returning the rental earlier.

Cons: I had issues both picking up and dropping off my car, as well as getting in touch with someone while we had the car. It was in great shape and they returned my deposit, but overall I’m just unhappy about the service and difficulty of the whole process.

Cons: We felt collection point was strange Not really a proper office when they did turn up felt rushed not very professional. Not a real handover ether way. Car was an old ambulance car with a rear grid i asked if they take it out met with a shrug. Felt no confidence in it at all. Sat nav id paid for took a while to arrive and it was so dated hardly upgraded. Car smelt unclean and generally poor I was worried it would make it around the journey.

Pros: The lady at the drop off point was super efficient and helpful. But thats about the only good thing I would say about Mode car rentals.

Cons: Super slow service at pickup. Car had considerable damage. Booked a booster seat which was not clean and really poor quality. Told we had to install the seat ourselves. That this was NZ law. Could not be properly secured to the vehicles anchor points so had to use a belt which luckily we had. We were left to try and work it out ourselves which is not good enough and staff weren't in the slightest bit helpful. I have never experienced this type of service with other car rental companies.

Plus there was no advance warning that this was just a “pickup location” with no one in attendance at rental outlet. This should be advertised ahead of time! Don’t understand the $50 fee for returning car to airport lot when that is where all the cars are located, not in the CBD

Pros: Car was very good. New tyres on it, it was as we had ordered and it never failed us. Communication was very good prior to pick up and after drop off.

Cons: No signage to find the rental car desk and extremely dodgy set-up of the desk once we found it. Had to speak with someone through a grill barricade. Had to reach through the barricade to type some of my details into their system. Felt like we were being scammed! All was fine with the rental and return of security bond was prompt though.

Mode more than made up by providing us with UBER to airport & no requirement for us to fill up with petrol on return. we went away happy after it was explained that there were staff shortages on easter sunday at city pickup location

Cons: We weren't made aware that the Auckland City pick-up branch was staffed only at time specified to pick up by. We arrived early and had to wait 55 minutes for staff to turn up. However, once the staff member arrived he was courteous and efficient.

Cons: Shocking customer service at Auckland airport branch. Zero communication. We were totally ignored while they served “other customers” who arrived after us. Nearly missed our plane as we waited at the branch for 45 minutes before they finally drove us to the airport. Oh and we were told to make our own way to the airport if we didn’t want to wait for the shuttle. Being pregnant and travelling with a child I absolutely did not need that additional stress of rushing at the airport.
