The company generally operates a same-to-same fuel policy. Mex Rent a Car offer arriving travelers a free shuttle service from the airport to its nearby facilities.

Pros: Friendly staff, ease of rental

Cons: Required customers to wait outside in the sun, instead of waiting inside. They said it was due to Covid fear, which didn't make much sense since customers were still entering and staying inside with masks on when renting their vehicle, but if they are to require that, they should have a more shaded area in front of the door.

Pros: They found us another company, but it was stick almost 1/2 more expensive.

Cons: The phone number they gave me to call if we were going to be late, wasn't answered & when they said to leave a voice mail, you couldn't leave a voice mail. So, when we got there to pick up car, was told it wasn't available & we'd have to upgrade to an SUV for an additional $400.

Pros: I made my reservation and was given a price to pay when I arrived. When I got there, I was told it would cost appx $100 more than I was quoted. Not happy. Was told that CA requires an "insurance" that was not disclosed during the online rental process. Seemed like bait and switch to me. I had mo option but to pay it.

Pros: The only positive was that the guy who picked us up was great and we didn't have to wait around.

Cons: They were horrible! We waited at least an hour to get our reservation taken care of. Then they told us that b/c we were flying out early and they weren't open, that we would have to drop our rental off at some other location and would also have to pay $15 to do so. Then to top it off, they gave us the wrong address for the drop off location; so we were driving around for about 1/2 an hour trying to find it. Absolutely terrible.

Cons: I got charged $54 for a "late return" when I returned the car 15 hours before the due date/time. The headache of getting this refunded has soured the experience. Larger companies would've resolved this issue immediately.

Pros: The off site location provided better rate, but getting there was kind of a pain in the butt since you had to Goto the airport rental car location which was accessible via a shuttle then get on another shuttle to get to their offsite location

Pros: The return process was straightforward.

Cons: It was not disclosed that Mex is offsite and requires 2 shuttles from the airport. It took 40 minutes for the 2nd shuttle to arrive. The woman at the front desk was originally cold and dismissive when I ran into problems regarding liability insurance. The total cost of my rental ended up being $150 more than quoted by DiscoverCar Hire. Instead of being the best deal, it was the most expensive option available. I felt scammed, angry, and trapped.

Cons: They were difficult to add my wife to the reservation. Discover car hire had to call them for me. But eventually Mex added her to the reservation. Once we landed, Mex did not have a car for us. They said they overbooked, and that we could wait to see if a car gets returned and we could have it, but they had no ETA as to when a car would be avail. They were not helpful or apologetic in the slightest.

Cons: They had a very difficult time finding the reservation, they didn't give us the car we paid extra for, and they charged us for extra insurance even though we already paid for full coverage through Discover Car Hire. They refused to refund us the insurance cost when we advised them of the error. I asked to speak with their manager and they said they would cc us on an email which we have yet to receive. They also only have one person who receives, cleans, and drives the transport vehicle.

Cons: I wanted to return the car early. There was a $15 fee because they weren't open (OK with me). I asked her to revise the form, but it didn't say WHERE to return the car. There also is no sign outside the building where to return cars outside working hours (the gate is locked and it isn't a good neighborhood, so you can't just leave the car with the keys). I had to call MEXICO to find someone. Please put up a sign telling people where to take cars outside business hours!!

Cons: The women at the customer counter were rude not only to me but 2 other customers. They didnt not honor the price listed for daily insurance on your website, even with the a email receipt. Instead the cost of the insurance double in price per day when I picked the car up. This was a horrible experience and I would not recommend anyone renting a car at this facility.

Pros: Nothing. Untrained employees. Excessive wait of 40 minutes with only ONE person in front of me. Excessive 30 minute wait for their shuttle AFTER taking the shuttle to the typical car rental facility.

Cons: MEX Car Rental is the absolute worst experience I have ever had in my 28 years of renting cars on a regular basis. 30 Min to get to them. 45 minutes in line once there with only ONE person in front of me (untrained person), Charged $25 because they don't open before I needed to return the car, AND the Car was a piece of JUNK. Leaking tires I had to fill twice, loose stearing, breaks that grabbed, massive dents, vomit stains, doors that don't unlock remotely, no electric windows... THE WORST!

Cons: I felt the sales pitch from the beginning, getting charged for a full tank of gas without it being clearly explained to me. I also went to return my car, arrived only THREE minutes after my return time (8pm) to find a locked lot and staff gone. Luckily a grounds keeper was there to take the car, but I would need to close my account the following day. I have called numerous times, only to be put on hold with no return or not even being able to get through. I have also emailed with no response.

Pros: Staff was nice. Very efficient in returning the car and shuttle back to major car rental hub.

Cons: Didn't like having to take the bus to the main car rental hub only to find out we had to wait for the Mex shuttle to another location. Took well over an hour and too many people waiting at the same time to pick up their cars. Mex shuttle was too small and very crowded. Not good if you are in a hurry or under time constraints. Why can't Mex pick us up at the airport?

When I called them about it, they said I must have run over a nail and they would charge me for the tire. It ended up just being low, so after I filled the tire, everything was fine. Cons: Mex Rent A Car agent did not greet me and in a very unpleasant tone said there was a balance due of ~$ 43 without further explanation. I had to ask why and he started to give me the explanation about being late and that I should know if I had read the contract, He frankly was not courteous and showed zero sense of customer service. Never was I informed that the extra day would be at their daily price, not DiscoverHire price. Overall a very bad experience for me. Will not use them again.

Cons: My reservation was for 7am. I paid for a cab to location and location was closed, sign on gate said they opened at 8am. I called 5 times no one answered nor was there a voicemail. I paid for a cab back home and finally got a hold of someone 40minutes after my scheduled pickup. I had to pay again fro another cab back to the location. I was not offered a rid or discount for this HUGE inconvenience which I missed an appointment and had to reschedule for work.

Cons: Most basic model ever. No key lock on the passenger side--the driver had to get in and manually open the doors! It also had manual windows. Having to take two shuttle buses to pick up the car was not convenient, considering the luggage, and their driver took more than a half hour to come for us! Returning was worse. Attendant arrived late and said shuttle wasn't available for another 45 mins. We had to hire an Uber car to take us. This was unacceptable, but we had no choice. Won't use Mex again

Cons: The instructions for pickup. It wasn't worded clearly that after exiting the airport and going to car rental pickups Bay that you needed to catch a shuttle to the car rental terminal before calling them to pick you up from there. It made it seem like they'd pick you up from the car rental area outside of the airport and not the car rental terminal. This meant that we got to them after 8pm, but luckily we had been in contact and could still pick the car up.

Cons: Service was terrible. Do not honor their reservation deals through third party sites. Paid double what was quoted to me for a car way smaller than what I booked. Terrible!!!!

Pros: FABULOUS CUSTOMER SERVICE

Cons: Being told there is a phone for shuttle at car rental place in San Diego. Not true. Seeing the van. having my luggage put in and going to get a seat and the person with a child would not hold the child, so I had to get out of the van and have my luggage taken out.

Cons: There needs to be more than 1 person working the desk for pick ups. It did take an hour wait to pick up the car.

Pros: Friendly people.

Cons: They had good service. The only problem is the amount of time to actually get the car. Shuttle from Airport to Car Rental facility near airport. Then had to call Mex Rent A Car to come pick us up. Total time from airport to Car Mex was 45 minutes.
