Cons: They shouldn’t have provide a manual gear car considering the steep slope road conditions of Santorini, and there’s no automatic transmission for the 7-seater, because of the road conditions, the clutch actually wear off fast and we were charged for the faulty clutch and forfeited our deposit of 1200 euros

Pros: AutoUnion were great to work with. Easy to pick up and drop off. They gave us a lot of information. Once we already at the airport and realized we had left an article in the trunk they sent an employee to the airport with our missing item and met me at the departure area so we didn’t leave our item behind.

Pros: Car was ready when we arrived. Pick up and drop off were very straightforward - right at Santorini port across from where you get on and off the ferry. Car was in reasonable condition.. quite a few bumps and scrapes on the exterior, but this is common for cars on the island. No issues with return. Deposit released quickly. Car was provided with 5/8 of a tank of fuel which is a bit tricky to measure when topping off at the end, but (again), not that unusual for car hires in Greece / the islands!

Cons: Did not provide a written damage report -- instructed us to take a video / photos at pick-up and said this would be used as basis for assessment at the end. We had no issues on return as there was no additional damage.. but this felt like it put quite a lot of pressure on us to do the inspection and it was a bit unusual not to walk around the car together with the agent to ensure that all pre-existing damages were mutually agreed and documented.

Rental Conditions

Rate includes

Free cancellation with a full refund up to 48 hours before your pick-up time, Unlimited mileage, Additional driver, Collision Damage Waiver (deductible: € 700.00), Theft Protection, Roadside Assistance (in the country of pick-up), Third Party Liability (TPL), Airport surcharge, Premium Location fee, State Tax.

Driver requirements

Minimum rental age is 23 years.
A Young driver fee is not applied.

Maximum rental age is 75 years.
A Senior driver fee is not applied.

The driver license must have been issued by authorized authorities at least 1 year(s) before the date of the commencement of the rental.

A driver license printed using a non-Roman alphabet (Arabic, Japanese, Cyrillic, etc) must be supplemented by an International Driving Permit.
Driver licenses will be accepted if issued in the following country(ies): EU countries.
Driver licenses from all other countries must be accompanied with International Driving Permit (IDP).
Please note that the International Driving Permit is valid only if accompanied by the regular driver license.

In addition to documents mentioned previously, the customer will need the following: passport, valid driver license, credit card on a main drivers name, booking voucher.

Deposit and deductible policy

A deposit will be blocked on the customer's credit card until the end of the rental period.
The exact deposit is determined on pick up since the amount is dependent on the type of vehicle.

Payment policy

At time of pick up, customers will be required to pay the amount of the rental and a deposit.
It is possible to pay and leave the deposit only with the following payment methods: Diners, MasterCard credit card, VISA credit card, American Express credit card.

Maestro, Cash, Debit cards, Prepaid cards is/are not accepted.

The main driver must provide a physical payment card in their name with enough funds to cover the deposit to pick up the car. The rental company will neither accept virtual credit cards (e.g., GooglePay or ApplePay) nor someone else’s card (including family members).

Cross-border policy

It is forbidden to cross country borders.
In the event that Cross Border & Territorial Restrictions are violated, all protections lose their validity.

Using a ferry is allowed on the previous request and for an additional charge of 74.40 EUR per rental.

Optional extras and services

Available special equipment: GPS Navigation system, Baby seat (up to 1 year of age), Child seat (2-4 years of age), Booster seat (4-10 years of age), Snow chains.

When picking up the vehicle, all drivers must be present and must provide valid documentation.

The first additional driver is allowed free of charge. Delivery/Collection service is available only by previous request.
Delivery/Collection service is available within city limits. Additional charges will be applied, depending on the distance.

Fuel policy

The vehicle is provided with a full tank of fuel and must be returned with the same amount in order to avoid additional charges.

Rental period

The maximum rental period is without limitations.

Business hours

Period of time, during regular working hours, when the car is still guaranteed for the customer, if the customer is late for pick up (the grace period) is 120 minutes.
